Russian senators vote to use stabilizing military forces on
Ukrainian territory 01 Mar 2014
Russia's Federation Council has unanimously approved President Vladimir Putin's
request to use Russian military forces in Ukraine. The move is aimed to settle
the turmoil in the split country. The upper house of the Russian parliament has
voted in favor of sending troops to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, which
would ensure peace and order in the region "until the socio-political situation
in the country is stabilized."
Thousands protest against new govt in eastern Ukraine, raise
Russian flags 01 Mar 2014 Thousands
of pro-Russian demonstrators across eastern Ukraine and Crimea are protesting
against the new government, with administration buildings being seized in
several cities. Gunshots have been reported as anti- and pro-Maidan protesters
clash. Protesters in Kharkov and Donetsk stormed local government offices and
removed Ukrainian flags, replacing them with the Russian tricolor on Saturday.
Between 7,000 to 10,000 demonstrators gathered in the center of Donetsk, a large
industrial city in eastern Ukraine.
Obama warns Russia against intervention in
Ukraine
[Right, only USociopaths are
allowed to do that.] 28 Feb 2014 President Barack Obama warned
Russia on Friday that any military intervention in Ukraine would lead to
unspecified "costs," and expressed deep concern about reports of Russian
military movements inside Ukraine. Obama made a hastily arranged appearance in
the White House briefing room to try to head off Russia after reports that armed
men had taken over two airports in the Crimea region of southern Ukraine. "We
are now deeply concerned by reports of military movements taken by the Russian
Federation inside of Ukraine," he told reporters. Obama said any violation of
Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity would be "deeply
destabilizing."
Pierre Omidyar co-funded Ukraine revolution groups with US
government, documents show 28 Feb
2014 Pando has confirmed that the American government -- in the form of the US
Agency for International Development (USAID) -- played a major role in funding
opposition groups prior to the [Ukrainian] revolution. Moreover, a large
percentage of the rest of the funding to those same groups came from a US
billionaire who has previously worked closely with US government agencies to
further his own business interests. What's shocking is the name of the
billionaire who co-invested with the US government - Pierre Omidyar. Yes, in the
annals of independent media, this might be the strangest twist ever: According to financial disclosures and reports
seen by Pando, the founder and publisher of Glenn Greenwald's government-bashing
blog, "The Intercept," co-invested with the US government to help fund regime
change in Ukraine.
'US, EU staged classic regime change in
Ukraine' 25 Feb 2014 The EU and US
have carried out a classic coup d'état in Ukraine using ultra-right forces as
human material, anti-war activist Brian Becker told RT. And cementing that
victory with an IMF aid package would place Ukraine on a Greek path into
Europe... BB: Well the [EU-US] aid package comes because the United States and
the EU have staged what is really a classic coup d'état ousting the elected
government in Ukraine and carrying out the regime change which we felt was their
agenda from the beginning ever since November when the EU gave Ukraine an
ultimatum: "Are you with the EU, are you going to integrate into the EU -- which
of course eventually means integration into NATO -- or are you with Russia?"
...A classic coup d'état has taken place. A rump session of parliament has
ousted the existing, constitutionally-elected president. And now there is a
reign of terror by semi-fascist and ultra-right groups against
others.
Baghdad motorbike blast, other attacks kill 52 in
Iraq 27 Feb 2014 At least 52 people
were killed Wednesday as a motorcycle rigged with explosives detonated in
Baghdad's Sadr City and militants targeted mostly Shi'ite neighborhoods around
the country. The motorcycle was parked in a second-hand bike market in the
Shi'ite Muslim neighborhood that was filled with people, mostly young men, when
it exploded late Thursday afternoon, killing 31 and wounding 51 others, Iraqi
medical and police sources said.
More trouble hits TEPCO's radioactive water 'cleanup'
system 28 Feb 2014 The troubled
radioactive water cleanup system at the stricken Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power
plant was hit by a new problem Wednesday, operator Tokyo Electric Power Co.
said. An alarm went off at about 12:20 p.m. warning of a problem in one of the
three lines of the Advanced Liquid Processing System (ALPS), TEPCO officials
said. The system is designed to remove most radioactive
material from water used to cool damaged reactors at the power plant in
Fukushima Prefecture.
Yahoo webcam images from millions of users intercepted by
GCHQ --1.8m users
targeted by UK agency in six-month period alone 27 Feb 2014 Britain's
surveillance agency GCHQ, with aid from the
US National Security Agency, intercepted and stored the webcam
images of millions of internet users not suspected of wrongdoing, secret
documents reveal. GCHQ files dating between 2008 and 2010 explicitly state that
a surveillance program codenamed Optic Nerve collected still images of Yahoo
webcam chats in bulk and saved them to agency databases, regardless of whether
individual users were an intelligence target or not. In one six-month period in
2008 alone, the agency collected webcam imagery -- including substantial
quantities of [off-color] communications -- from more than 1.8 million Yahoo
user accounts globally.
NSA whistleblower was witness to 9/11
foreknowledge 27 Feb 2014 In this
video, Luke Rudkowski of WeAreChange talks to former NSA senior executive turned
whistleblower, Thomas Drake. Drake speaks about 9/11 foreknowledge in which the
NSA had information that, if shared, could have prevented the 9/11 attacks. The
NSA whistleblower discusses his own personal story and describes a inspiring
conversation he had with Edward Snowden.
FBI had placed 'high echelon source' in direct contact with
bin Laden, hid from 9/11 Commission
26 Feb 2014 Several years before Al
Qaeda the Bush regime launched its most devastating attack on the United
States, in 2001, the FBI recruited a "high echelon source" with access to the
likes of Osama bin Laden, according to newly cited testimony by FBI officials in
a years-old discrimination lawsuit against the agency. On Wednesday, though,
U.S. law enforcement sources were looking into a report in the The Washington
Times and then elsewhere that the FBI had actively placed the source in direct
contact with bin Laden and hid that fact from both the 9/11 Commission and
congressional investigators. In fact, testimony in the lawsuit indicates the
source had already met with bin Laden by the time an FBI agent recruited
him.
FBI had human source in contact with bin Laden as far back as
1993 --U.S. learned of plans to finance terror
attacks 26 Feb 2014 In a revelation missing from the official
investigations of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the FBI placed a human
source in direct contact with Osama bin Laden in 1993 and ascertained that the
al Qaeda [al-CIAduh] leader was looking to finance terrorist attacks in the
United States, according to court testimony in a little-noticed employment
dispute case... "It was the only source I know in the bureau where we had a
source right in al Qaeda, directly involved," Edward J. Curran, a former top
official in the FBI's Los Angeles office, told the court in support of a
discrimination lawsuit filed against the bureau by his former agent Bassem
Youssef. Mr. Curran gave the testimony in 2010 to an essentially empty
courtroom, and thus it escaped notice from the media or terrorism
specialists.
'Traffic is a nightmare': Bridge scandal audio tapes reveal
growing gridlock in Fort Lee 28 Feb
2014 Newly released 911 and police radio tapes reveal that on the first morning
of the controversial George Washington Bridge lane closures last year, officers
and emergency responders in Fort Lee were grappling with city-wide traffic
gridlock. At 8:52 a.m. on Sept. 9, a dispatcher warned paramedics leaving a
hospital about coming to the Bergen County borough. "Fort Lee traffic is a
nightmare," the dispatcher said... At 9:02 a.m., a police officer was trying to
help an ambulance plot ways to avoid inbound traffic.
Bridge scandal: Christie's press secretary meets with federal
prosecutors 27 Feb 2014 Gov. Chris
Christie's longtime spokesman and current press secretary, Michael Drewniak, met
with federal prosecutors in New Jersey for "several hours" today to answer
questions about his role in the September lane closings at the George Washington
Bridge, his attorney said. Drewniak is the first member of Christie's inner
circle to acknowledge meeting with federal authorities since an e-mail emerged
linking a senior aide to the governor, Bridget Anne Kelly, to the decision to
close the lanes, which caused massive traffic jams. It's unclear whether any
other members of the governor's office have also been interviewed.
Republicans derail Veterans Affairs bill in
Senate 27 Feb 2014 A broad Veterans
Affairs bill that would have expanded benefits for former service members and
repealed a military pension cut for future troops was rejected in the Senate on
Thursday. The measure, sponsored by Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Bernie
Sanders (I-Vt.), did not garner enough Republican votes to waive a VA spending
limit established under the budget Congress and President Obama approved in
December. The measure was four votes shy of a [GOP-imposed] 60-vote threshold
required for it to have advanced.
