North East coast of America on unprecedented lockdown: 60million people hit by shutdown as roads, tunnels, trains, bridges and businesses brought to standstill and THREE FEET of snow threatens country's most densely-populated areas --Driving bans, threats of arrest, canceled planes, closed railways and metro systems and tunnels froze giant cities | 27 Jan 2015 | Tens of millions of Americans were caught in an unprecedented blizzard lockdown today, with residents of five states effectively banned from going outside as states of emergency were declared. A storm threatening to dump three feet of snow from New Jersey to Massachusetts prompted states of emergency to be declared, with metro systems in New York City and Boston shut, and threats of 500 fines for drivers on roads which were barred in the evening to all but emergency vehicles. A fifth of the population of the U.S. was advised to shelter from the storm, with a large swath of New York state, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey and Massachusetts forced from the roads by driving bans to make room for plows, police and ambulances. Governors and mayors told people to stay for all but the most vital reasons, while panicked residents cleaned out stores in anticipation of days trapped behind huge drifts of snow before the rigorous emergency measures kicked in.

Governors Declare States of Emergency in NY, NJ, CT as Potentially Historic Blizzard Bears Down on Tri-State --New York City shut down all streets and subway service at 11 p.m. | 27 Jan 2015 | The governors of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut declared states of emergency ahead of a paralyzing blizzard expected to wallop the tri-state with more than 2 feet of snow, coastal flooding and heavy sustained winds that will cause power outages and make even the slightest travel hazardous. The New York City subway and bus system shut down at 11 p.m. after a National Weather Service blizzard warning went into effect for New York City. MTA officials initially believed they could keep the underground subway service running through the blizzard, but Cuomo said worsening conditions necessitated the closure.

Malloy declared a state of emergency Monday and is opening the state Emergency Operations Center to prepare for the winter storm headed into the region. Malloy ordered the center to be activated at 4 p.m. Monday. The Emergency Operations Center will remain open throughout the storm. The state is under a blizzard warning from 1 p.m. Monday until midnight Tuesday. A travel ban is also being issued for the entire state starting at 9 p.m. Monday.

Former CIA officer convicted in leak case | 26 Jan 2015 | A former CIA officer involved in a highly secretive operation to give faulty nuclear plans to Iran was convicted Monday of giving classified information about his work to a New York Times reporter and author. Jeffrey Sterling, 47, of O'Fallon, Mo., was convicted of nine counts of unauthorized disclosure of national defense information and other related charges for leaking materials that prosecutors said put lives at risk and compromised one of the U.S. government's few mechanisms to deter Iran's [alleged] nuclear aspirations. U.S. District Judge Leonie M. Brinkema allowed Sterling to remain free on bond until his April 24 sentencing.

Military-clad English-speakers caught on camera in Mariupol shelling aftermath | 25 Jan 2015 | Armed people in uniform speaking fluent English with no accent have been spotted in Mariupol in the aftermath of the rocket hit, fuelling allegations that foreign mercenaries are serving among Ukrainian troops. The port city in eastern Ukraine, under Kiev's control, saw a surge of violence on Saturday, when several rockets hit a residential area in the east of the city, reportedly killing 30 civilians. Numerous videos from the scene showed destruction in the aftermath of the attack, for which local militia and Ukrainian troops blamed each other. But among footage shot in Mariupol, there are some videos showing armed men in military uniform, who speak English fluently.

Putin: Ukraine army is NATO legion aimed at restraining Russia | 26 Jan 2015 | The Ukrainian army is essentially a 'NATO legion' which doesn't pursue the national interests of Ukraine, but persists to restrict Russia, President Vladimir Putin says. "We often say: Ukrainian Army, Ukrainian Army. But who is really fighting there? There are, indeed, partially official units of armed forces, but largely there are the so-called 'volunteer nationalist battalions'," said Putin. He added that the intention of Ukrainian troops is connected with "achieving the geopolitical goals of restraining Russia." Putin was addressing students in the city of St. Petersburg.

Ukraine: The Rise of the Right --'To become an Azov fighter you have to be a proper white man'. --Azov Battalion fighter | 20 Jan 2015 | Ukraine's bloody conflict against pro-Russian separatists in the east of the country has led to thousands of deaths - but it faces a new fight against the rapid rise of far right groups. BAFTA-winning filmmaker Ross Kemp saw first-hand how militias, made up of football hooligans and current and former soldiers, are now fighting on the front line...Senior members of the Azov Battalion have now been given influential positions within Petro Poroshenko's government. Its commander, Andriy Biletsky, is believed to be in charge of two neo-Nazi political groups, and has been elected to serve in Ukraine's parliament while the battalion itself has been integrated into the country's National Guard. Differences between Ukraine's far right groups have been put aside as the fighting continues, though one fighter -- a teacher and psychologist -- told Kemp that to become an Azov fighter you had to be "a proper white man. You can be nationalist, you can be fascist or national socialist. It's not the main thing. Our future is a war - a war with Russia."

FBI: 3 Russians charged with spying, 1 arrested in New York | 27 Jan 2015 | Federal prosecutors in the United States have announced charges against three Russian men who allegedly operated an international spy ring based out of New York City. US attorneys said Monday that Evgeny Buryakov, Igor Sporyshev, and Victor Podobnyy have been charged "in connection with Buryakov's service as a covert intelligence agent on behalf of the Russian Federation." Buryakov unlawfully acted as an unregistered agent of a foreign government, the federal complaint alleges, and his co-defendants are charged with conspiracy thereof.

Highlighting the new bill in a speech on Sunday, Mr. Harper said he will protect Canadians from homegrown extremists by giving authorities new powers -- including the ability to prosecute people for "the promotion of terrorism." ...After the October attacks [false flags], Justice Minister Peter MacKay mused about giving police legal tools that could allow for the removal of Internet posts that are "poisoning young minds."

Greece election: Anti-austerity Syriza wins election | 25 Jan 2015 | Anti-austerity Syriza party has won Greece's general election, putting the country on a possible collision course with the EU over its massive bailout. With nearly 75% of the votes counted, Syriza is projected to win 149 seats, just two short of an absolute majority, though that number could change. Left-wing party leader Alexis Tsipras, who wants to renegotiate Greece's debt, said "the Greeks wrote history". The governing centre-right New Democracy [sic] has come a distant second.

The man, not identified by the government, has been "been fully cooperative" and "initial indications are that this incident occurred as a result of recreational use of the device," the Secret Service said in a written statement. The pre-dawn incident triggered an early morning lockdown of the White House perimeter and revived concern about the security of the presidential home.

After the pair was sworn in, the group left and two officers were shot, though it's unclear if the officers shot were the ones just sworn in. At a news conference, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office confirmed they are in good condition, and the suspect was shot and killed by another officer...In video recorded from the meeting, a council member says, "Somebody got shot," and council member John Elder who happens to serve with the Minneapolis Police Department says, "Everybody get down!"

The woman's male traveling companion has flu-like symptoms and may also be infected, health officials in British Columbia said. "Today we are confirming the first case of H7N9 in humans in North America," Canada's health minister Rona Ambrose said in a statement.

CDC lies: Measles outbreaks confirmed among children already vaccinated | 13 Jan 2015 | Official reports are claiming that unvaccinated children are to blame [for the Disneyland measles outbreak] because some of those who contracted the measles hadn't been vaccinated. Some of them had been vaccinated, of course, and the original source of the disease has yet to be determined. But like always, it is automatically those individuals who choose not to inject their bodies with a vaccine linked to brain damage and autism -- and that's been shown to spread the measles -- that must have triggered the outbreak. The interesting thing about this latest measles outbreak is that the media is parading it around as evidence that not getting vaccinated triggers disease outbreaks, even though the original source of the disease is unknown. It is entirely possible that a vaccinated person spread the disease to both vaccinated and unvaccinated people, which in and of itself shows the lack of effectiveness of vaccines.

The massive financial goal was revealed to donors here Monday during an annual winter meeting hosted by Freedom Partners, the tax-exempt business lobby that serves as the hub of the Koch-backed political operation, according to an attendee. The amount is more than double the 407 million that 17 allied groups in the network raised during the 2012 campaign buy.
