VoteVets Board of Advisors member Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton (Ret) traveled to Iowa with VoteVets Chairman Jon Soltz and Brig. Gen. Steven Anderson (Ret), who described those who applauded Trump after Saturday’s remarks as “a small segment of the GOP base.”
"Anderson criticized Trump’s assertion in Iowa last Saturday that McCain is “not a war hero.” McCain spent five years as a prisoner during the Vietnam War.”
“I think what he said was an insult to anybody who’s ever put a uniform on,” Anderson said. “I read the [Des Moines Register] editorial, and you guys hit it out of the park, nailed it.”
