US-backed forces give hundreds of ISIS fighters safe passage | 18 Aug 2016 | Several hundred vehicles containing 100 to 200 Islamic State fighters were given safe passage by US-based forces, out of the northern Syrian city of Manbij, after surrendering their weapons, according to defense officials. US Army Col. Carver, a spokesman for the US-led coalition fighters, told Pentagon reporters the decision to let Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL [but still I-CIA-SIS]) convoys leave the city was made by commanders of the Syrian Democratic Force  the U.S.-backed forces in Manbij. Associated Press reported US military officials said some of the IS fighters had already made their way into Turkey, and many were still in Syria.

U.S.-backed Syrian forces gave defeated ISIS fighters safe passage | 16 Aug 2016 | Islamic State fighters surrounded during the key battle for Manbij, Syria, last week agreed to surrender their weapons to U.S.-backed Syrian forces in return for safe passage out of the embattled city, a senior defense official said Tuesday. It was the first such agreement with the terror group...U.S. advisers who support the Syrian Democratic [sic] Forces knew of the deal and agreed not to target the convoy with airstrikes as it left the city, according to the defense official. U.S. advisers urged their allies on the ground to consider other options, but the forces stuck to their plan to give the militants safe passage, the official said. Army Col. Chris Garver, a military spokesman in Baghdad...said the decision not to bomb the [ISIS] convoy was made by the U.S.-backed forces in Manbij.

The Saudi beheading sociopaths, aka ISIS on steroids: In Saudi-led coalition war crime, air strike on MSF hospital in Yemen kills at least 11 - aid group | 15 Aug 2016 | A Saudi-led coalition air strike hit a hospital operated by Medecins Sans Frontieres in northern Yemen on Monday, killing at least 11 people and wounding 19, the aid group said. A Reuters witness at the scene of the attack in the Abs district of Hajja province said medics could not immediately evacuate the wounded because war planes continued to fly over the area and emergency workers feared more bombings. "The location of the hospital was well known, and the hospital's GPS coordinates were repeatedly shared with all parties to the conflict, including the Saudi-led coalition," the aid group also known as Doctors Without Borders, said in a statement. It said one of its staff members was among those killed when an aerial bomb hit the hospital compound, also killing 10 patients"This is the fourth attack against an MSF facility in less than 12 months," the statement said.

Fears of 'Sharia Police' and Islamic State support in German city after wave of refugees | 13 Aug 2016 | Officials in the German port of Hamburg are monitoring reports that Muslims posing as 'Sharia Police' are carrying out patrols in the city. Eyewitnesses reported seeing three people wearing burkas and black gloves driving around Hamburg's Wandsbek district in a black VW. They said a sticker with an Islamic logo and the words Sharia Police was fastened to the car's bonnet. There were also reports of another incident in the Dammtor area of Hamburg where witnesses claim to have seen five to seven masked people sitting in a van.

Pentagon announces single largest transfer of Guantanamo inmates | 15 Aug 2016 | U.S. officials said on Monday 15 inmates from the Guantanamo prison were transferred to the United Arab Emirates, the single largest transfer of Guantanamo detainees during President Barack Obama's administration. The transfer of the 12 Yemeni and three Afghan citizens brings the total number of detainees prisoners down to 61 at the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Most have been held without charge or trial for more than a decade, drawing international condemnation.

Bulk data collection by British spy agencies vital to prevent terrorism in UK, report finds | 19 Aug 2016 | The bulk collection of personal data by British spy agencies is vital in preventing terrorist attacks, an independent review of draft security legislation has found. David Anderson QC, the independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, concluded that laws giving MI5, MI6 and GCHQ the right to gather large volumes of data from members of the public had a "clear operational purpose". The main findings were welcomed by the prime minister, Theresa May, but have prompted concern from Labour and privacy campaigners.

US-funded pandemics: UN says it was involved in introducing cholera to Haiti | 19 Aug 2016 | The United Nations is saying for the first time that it was involved in the introduction of cholera to Haiti and needs to do "much more" to end the suffering of those affected, estimated at more than 800,000 people. Researchers say there is ample evidence that cholera was [purposefully?] introduced to Haiti's biggest river in October 2010 by inadequately treated sewage from a U.N. peacekeeping base. The United Nations has never accepted responsibility, and has answered lawsuits on behalf of victims in U.S. courts by claiming diplomatic immunity.

Paul Ceglia, 43, claimed in 2010 that he owned 84 per cent of Facebook per an alleged 2003 contract with Mark Zuckerberg. In 2012 he was charged with altering documents to bolster his claim. Now he and his family - wife Iasia, two teen sons and dog Buddy - are on the run after they fled last year. And according to Bloomberg, Ceglia still fears for his life.

'Minor' radiation leak in New York's FitzPatrick nuclear plant has gone unfixed for 4 years | 16 Aug 2016 | (Scriba, NY) The owner of FitzPatrick nuclear plant [Entergy Corp.] has allowed highly radioactive waste to leak into a contained area of the facility for at least four years, a safety violation that poses no risk to the public but might make it more difficult to decontaminate the site after the reactor closes. The problem was cited in the most recent quarterly inspection report by federal safety regulators. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory [sic] Commission said the accumulation of spilled radioactive waste in the basement of a building at FitzPatrick is of "very low safety significance'' [!?!] because it occurred in a locked, highly shielded area that is already highly radioactive.

WHO Manual Directing 'Authorities' on How to Respond to Vaccine-Deniers in Public --The document centers on how to address 'science denialism' for health authorities in a public venue or discussion. | 18 Aug 2016 | The endlessly increasing vaccine push on the public, at the behest of pharmaceutical companies, can be looked at as nothing more than a psychological operation (PSYOP). From the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) comes the 2016 Best Practice Guidance 1st Edition: How to Respond to Vocal Vaccine Deniers in Public. From this guide, parents and communities will understand how to see through the simplistic messaging maneuvers and counter the ongoing public PSYOP. The WHO's guiding document opens on page one with the following statement: "This guidance document provides basic broad principles for a spokesperson of any health authority on how to respond to vocal vaccine deniers. The suggestions are based on psychological research on persuasion, on research in public health, communication studies and on WHO risk communication guidelines."

Vaccine quackery bombshell: Key studies cited to 'prove' vaccines are safe were funded almost entirely by vaccine manufacturers | 09 Aug 2016 | In this critical review of the scientific literature on vaccines, ANH-USA and Brian Hooker carefully scrutinize the gross scientific flaws and blatant fin-ncial conflicts of interests that undermine the most commonly cited scientific studies which "prove" vaccines don't cause autism. In a startling percentage of these studies, the "scientists" were either directly funded by vaccine manufacturers who stood to profit from vaccine safety whitewashing or served as highly paid expert witnesses to defend vaccine makers against lawsuits. What we really see in this critical review is a systemic pattern of scientific fraud, criminal corruption and the complete abandonment of research ethics in the relentless quest to "prove" vaccines are safe (and thereby sell more of them to more vaccine victims).

Princeton professor shows how easy it is to hack an election in just 7 minutes | 08 Aug 2016 | A professor from Princeton University and a graduate student just proved electronic voting machines in the U.S. remain astonishingly vulnerable to hackers -- and they did it in under eight minutes. In fact, Professor Andrew Appel and grad student Alex Halderman took just seven minutes to break into the authentic Sequoia AVC Advantage electronic voting machine Appel purchased for $82 online -- one of the oldest models, but still in use Louisiana, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and VirginiaPolitico reported. After Halderman picked the hulking, 250-pound machine's lock in seven seconds flat, Appel wrested its four ROM chips from a circuit board -- an easy feat, considering the chips weren't soldered in place.

Hillary Clinton Picks TPP and Fracking Advocate to Set Up Her White House | 16 Aug 2016 | Two big issues dogged Hillary Clinton during the Democratic primary: the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement (TPP) and fracking...In two of the most significant personnel moves she will ever make, she has signaled a lack of sincerity. She chose as her vice presidential running mate Tim Kaine, who voted to authorize fast-track powers for the TPPand praised the agreement just two days before he was chosen. And now she has namedformer Colorado Democratic Senator and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to be the chair of her presidential transition team -- the group tasked with helping set up the new administration should she win in November...As a senator, Salazar was widely considered a reliable friend to the oil, gas, ranching and mining industries. As interior secretary, he opened the Arctic Ocean for oil drilling, and oversaw the botched response to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Since returning to the private sector, he has been an ardent supporter of the TPP, while pushing back against curbs on fracking.

Trump tours La. flood damage, draws cheers as he says region will rebuild | 19 Aug 2016 | Donald Trump landed Friday in flood-ravaged Louisiana Friday, where he consoled homeowners and toured devastated communities, telling one homeowner he is "going to rebuild." The Republican presidential nominee, with running mate Mike Pence at his side, stopped at the home of Jimmy and Olive Gordan in Denham Springs, where the couple was still sweeping out floodwaters from their home. A ruined couch, chair and bedroom furniture were piled on their lawn, and Jimmy Gordan told Trump he spent his 79th birthday on the roof of his house. "I just don't know what we'll do," the man told Trump. "You're going to rebuild," Trump told him as the two hugged. "It's going to be so beautiful."

Breitbart News chair Steve Bannon was appointed to lead the campaign and pollster Kellyanne Conway was made "campaign manager".

Trump says he regrets past remarks that 'caused personal pain' | 18 Aug 2016 | Donald Trump expressed regret on Thursday for remarks that "may have caused personal pain" as he sought to refocus his message in the face of falling opinion poll numbers in his first speech since a shake-up in his campaign this week. "Sometimes, in the heat of debate and speaking on a multitude of issues, you don’t choose the right words or you say the wrong thing," the Republican presidential nominee told a crowd in Charlotte, North Carolina. "I have done that, and I regret it, particularly where it may have caused personal pain. Too much is at stake for us to be consumed with these issues."

The letter, which will be delivered to RNC Chairman Reince Priebus Tuesday, includes two sitting members of Congress and 27 former RNC staffers, among many others. "...[W]e urge you to immediately suspend all discretionary RNC support for Trump and focus the entirety of the RNC's available resources on preserving the GOP's congressional majorities," says the letter, whose draft CBS reported on last week when there were already 70 signatures.

90 percent of homes in Denham Springs flooded --'You see nothing but water.' | 17 Aug 2016 | (Livingston Parish, LA) Approximately 90 percent of the homes in Denham Springs have taken on water in a flood of historic and devastating proportions, according to Mayor Gerard Landry. Highway 190 in Denham Springs, the main thoroughfare in the city of Denham Springs, has been washed out by the floodwaters. Aerial photos and videos showed much of the city still under water. Among the homes that took on water was the mayor's place.

Buildings burn, residents flee as out-of-control brush fire burns 18,000 acres in Cajon Pass | 16 Aug 2016 | A brush fire exploded out of control Tuesday in the Cajon Pass, scorching 18,000 acres as walls of flame forced more than 80,000 people to evacuate and destroyed an unknown number of homes in several rural San Bernardino County communities. Fed by strong winds, bone-dry brush and 100-degree temperatures, the Blue Cut fire marched across hills, canyons and flatlands into the night as firefighters struggled to get a handle on a blaze they fear will get worse. The fire closed Interstate 15 and Highway 138 -- the two key routes in the area -- clogging traffic and making it more difficult for residents to evacuate.

July 2016 was 1.57 degrees F above the 20th-century average, breaking last year’s record for the warmest July on record by 0.11 degrees F, according to scientists from NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information. This was the 15th month in a row to break a monthly heat record, surpassing July 2015 as the warmest month ever on record. Records date back 137 years to 1880.

Police discredit Ryan Lochte's robbery story, say swimmers owe Rio an apology | 18 Aug 2016 | Brazilian police Thursday accused swimming star Ryan Lochte of fabricating his story of being held up along with three of his U.S. Olympic teammates by armed assailants. But the authorities also acknowledged a gun was pulled on the foursome by a security guard early Sunday at a Rio de Janeiro gas station, where the swimmers apparently damaged property at the end of a late-night excursion. The police statement contradicting Lochte's account, along with the decision by Brazilian authorities to prevent his three fellow swimmers from leaving the country, threatened to overshadow the Rio Games and what has been a stellar performance by U.S. athletes..."No robbery was committed against these athletes," Fernando Veloso, chief of the Rio de Janeiro police investigative division, said during a packed news conference Thursday afternoon. "They were not victims of the crimes they claimed."
