US, Saudi Arabia to grant 9,000 ISIS fighters free passage from Iraqi Mosul to Syria - source | 13 Oct 2016 | The US and Saudi Arabia have agreed to grant free passage to thousands of Islamic State militants before the Iraqi city of Mosul is stormed. The jihadists will be redeployed to fight against the government in Syria, a military-diplomatic source told RIA Novosti. "More than 9,000 Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS, ISIL [but still I-CIA-SIS) militants will be redeployed from Mosul to the eastern regions of Syria to carry out a major offensive operation, which involves capturing Deir ez-Zor and Palmyra," the source said...The leadership of Saudi Arabia's General Intelligence Directorate will be the mediators and guarantors of the agreement on safe passage for the jihadists from Mosul, he claimed.

Iraqi Forces Attack Mosul, Seeking to Dislodge Islamic State | 16 Oct 2016 | Mosul’s residents are hoarding food and furtively scrawling resistance slogans on walls, while the city's Islamic State rulers have feverishly expanded their underground tunnel network and tried to dodge American drones. After months of maneuvering, the Iraqi government’s battle to reclaim Mosul, the sprawling city whose million-plus population lent the most credence to the Islamic State's claim to rule a fledgling nation, has finally begun. In the early hours Monday, an announcement by Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi of the campaign's opening was accompanied by artillery barrages and a rush of armored vehicles toward the front a few miles from the city’s limits.

Twitter came in for the sharpest criticism from the Home Affairs Committee, which expressed shock at the "viscerally antisemitic nature and volume of tweets directed specifically at members of Parliament." ..."We believe that his [Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn's] lack of consistent leadership on this issue, and his reluctance to separate antisemitism from other forms of racism, has created what some have referred to as a 'safe space' for those with vile attitudes towards Jewish people," the committee said.

Nuclear power plants are terrorist bait, need extra protection - ex-IAEA chief | 11 Oct 2016 | Nuclear power plants are one of the best protected facilities in the world, but they still remain likely targets for terrorists and therefore require extra protection, Hans Blix, former IAEA chief, told RT. "One has to be very careful, of course, about installations like nuclear power plants and enrichment plants," said Blix, who headed the International Atomic Energy Agency between 1981 and 1997. He recalled the hack at Iran's uranium enrichment facility at Natanz back in 2010 "where a malware called 'Stuxnet' was smuggled in and managed to stop several hundred enrichment centrifuges."

The guard is expected to include up to 85,000 service personnel by 2018. The law was approved by the Council of Ministers, a powerful executive body composed of senior officials, on Wednesday. Those who apply for the National Guard will be able to choose between army activities, serving in the gendarmerie (the police force that is part of the French Army), or working in the French police.

WikiLeaks Reveals How Wall Street Built the Obama Cabinet | 14 Oct 2016 | Perhaps the most startling discovery of the WikiLeaks dumps so far [is] from 2008, when John Podesta served as co-chair of President-elect Barack Obama's transition team. The email came from Michael Froman, a former Citibank executive, who single-handedly built the entire cabinet of what was supposed to be the "main street" President. The email in question was even sent from Froman's Citibank email address and includes "A list of African American, Latino and Asian American candidates, broken down by Cabinet/Deputy and Under/Assistant/Deputy Assistant level, plus a list of Native American, Arab/Muslim American and Disabled American candidates." Apparently Obama wasn't as worried about placing women in senior-level positions but Froman decided to offer up some suggestions anyway.

The GOP presidential nominee's Ohio campaign director said the break was a result of what Trump himself considers Ohio Republican Party chairman [corporatist scum-bag] Matt Borges's "duplicity." "I spoke with Mr. Trump on Thursday and he is very disappointed in Matt's duplicity," Trump Ohio Director Bob Paduchik wrote in a letter to members of the state GOP central committee, which elects the chairman...Paduchik goes on to accuse Borges of having "conducted a self-promotional media tour with state and national outlets to criticize our party's nominee," and alleges the chairman "has been promoting himself for an all but declared campaign for Republican National Committee Chairman."
