This & that....

• Markets may 'never recover' - Nobel Prize-winning economist
• US dollar dives, gold price jumps
• Wall Street braced for big falls
• European, Asian stock markets plummet

The Nobel Prize-winning economist on what a Trump presidency will mean for the economy.
"So we are very probably looking at a global recession, with no end in sight."
Krugman's pessimistic view comes in the wake of a more than
800-point plunge in U.S. stock futures.

It's the establishment, stupid

GUERNICAMAG.COM|BY GUERNICA MAGAZINE
  • "The establishment doesn’t see what’s happening because it has cut itself off from the lives of most Americans. It also doesn’t wish to understand, because that would mean acknowledging its role in bringing all this on.
Yet regardless of the political fates of Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders, the rebellion against the establishment will continue.
Eventually, those with significant economic and political power in America will have to either commit to fundamental reform, or relinquish their power."
Robert Reich saw this in February of this year. But HRC and her supporters thought that selling the fear of Trump would be enough to insure that business as usual won the election. It wasn't, and they lost. They lost HARD.
They have much to answer for.

Hillary Clinton was “exactly the wrong candidate: a technocrat who offered fine-tuning when the country…

TRUTHDIG.COM
  • "She was the Democratic candidate because it was her turn and because a Clinton victory would have moved every Democrat in Washington up a notch. Whether or not she would win was always a secondary matter, something that was taken for granted. Had winning been the party’s number one concern, several more suitable candidates were ready to go. There was Joe Biden, with his powerful plainspoken style, and there was Bernie Sanders, an inspiring and largely scandal-free figure. Each of them would probably have beaten Trump, but neither of them would really have served the interests of the party insiders. …
To try to put over such a nominee while screaming that the Republican is a rightwing monster is to court disbelief. If Trump is a fascist, as liberals often said, Democrats should have put in their strongest player to stop him, not a party hack they’d chosen because it was her turn. Choosing her indicated either that Democrats didn’t mean what they said about Trump’s riskiness, that their opportunism took precedence over the country’s well-being, or maybe both.
...The even larger problem is that there is a kind of chronic complacency that has been rotting American liberalism for years, a hubris that tells Democrats they need do nothing different, they need deliver nothing really to anyone – except their friends on the Google jet and those nice people at Goldman. The rest of us are treated as though we have nowhere else to go and no role to play except to vote enthusiastically on the grounds that these Democrats are the “last thing standing” between us and the end of the world. It is a liberalism of the rich, it has failed the middle class, and now it has failed on its own terms of electability. Enough with these comfortable Democrats and their cozy Washington system. Enough with Clintonism and its prideful air of professional-class virtue. Enough!"

Democrats are smarter than thou.
The final election results are not in, but one thing is crystal clear:
Hillary Clinton is a failure. And so is the neoliberal establishment.

Trump is a piece of shit in a shit storm.
The electorate has, in its plurality, decided to live in Trump’s world of
vanity, hate, arrogance, untruth, and recklessness.

 Jim Wright's post.
Jim Wright

Good Morning
What's good about it?
Same things as any other morning, I suppose. Or not.
My experience is that it's how you face it that makes the determination.
Obviously I'll have a much longer analysis at some point, when I've had time to look at the data and time to sort it out. Obviously 99% of the media got it not just wrong, but Karl Rove wrong. So I would caution you all to take ANY post election analysis from media talking heads and other various "experts" with a very large grain of salt. For the last six month these "experts" have gotten it wrong, last night they got it seriously wrong, and now this morning they're expertly telling you why. So, turn off Morning Joe and MSNBC and Fox & Friends, and go do something that gives you joy.
No, really, you're depressed and angry enough, I've read your social media posts and your messages.
I understand your anger and your frustration and your fear this morning. I do. And as such, I'm doing my very best to be patient with certain of you. And so, for the remainder of the day, I'm going to ignore the posts and the messages which begin "Fuck you, fuck the democrats, fuck Hillary Clinton, fuck America, Fuck anybody who fucked Bernie (or Jill, or Gary), and etc..."
However, starting tomorrow morning, if you send me such, you'll be set gently outside the airlock.
Those who've already left, and there are quite a number, I sincerely wish you the best of luck wherever you fetch up.
Me? I'm not leaving. I'm going to stay and fight. I don't know how that will work out, but I owe it to myself and the future to find out.
You're welcome to join me.
Again, I understand your anger and frustration, but I warned you that this was a very real possibility. In fact, I've been quite vocal about it -- and as such, I made myself a target for those taking power and if my inbox this morning is any indication, well, let's say I'm glad I have a military background. I accept it, I'll deal with it. But I'm not going to be the target or YOUR ire as well.
So, again, today is SAFE RAGE AT JIM DAY.
We have a lot of work to do to protect our friends over the next few years and it's going to take steady hands and clear eyes.
So, rage today, but starting tomorrow those who remain here will be the ones with the calm determination to stand against the fall of night.

DNC, mainstream media, Clinton machine, DC insiders... this is on you. Take responsibility.
