That's The Way It Works!

Well-to-do voters killed dog racing is the laughable and inflammatory headline of the Brockton Enterprise. Who thought that one up?
.
And State Sen. Marc R. Pacheco, D-Taunton, said he fears the ballot will be decided by voters “way up in Newton somewhere or Weston,” which he says is “unfair.” Move On!
.
Might the headline have said the poor and less educated supported greyhound racing? Might it have said that those who absorb the social costs of gambling voted against it? Might it have said some recognized that this has been about slot machines all along?
.
Ballot questions are voted on statewide. That's the way it works. To raise divisive issues might please certain constituents, but demeans those who raise them.
.
Is DiMasi being targeted? and Rep. Slots For Top Dog raise serious questions about the transparent political posturing for another slots vote on the 2 time looser in January.
.
Is this just about bailing out George Carney?
.
It's curious to compare the votes on other ballot questions as well as the Presidential votes.

I knocked on doors, handed out fliers, waved signs on street corners. I am opposed to slot machines and saw this coming. No matter what you call it, I worked hard not just because of the dogs but because of the slots as prelude to casinos. Except for the communities surrounding Raynam no one else voted for this.
