Sound Fiscal Policy

There are two great articles below by Boston Globe that highlight the failures of local officials to adequately fulfill their responsibilities.

What is ignored is that budget cuts have slashed oversight and auditing $$$$.

While it's convenient to point fingers, the Tea Baggers a la Grover Norquist protest taxes and government in their schizophrenic frenzy.

You can't slash government and expect it to function. To believe otherwise is irrational.

We've already seen the results of slashing regulators and auditors in the S&L crisis, the current banking disasters, the current NECC disaster, numerous food poisonings and recalls, product recalls and much else.

If government is to protect us in our daily lives, let's not pretend the Koch Brothers' illogic makes sense.
