Leadership often requires tough decisions. But when that decision is between standing up for the people of Massachusetts or serving the narrow interests of big corporations, the choice should be easy. At least it is for me.

Unfortunately, Attorney General Martha Coakley chose wrong.

After facilitating closed-door negotiations, Coakley approved the Partners HealthCare merger and acquisition, a decision that will raise health care costs for people around the Commonwealth and reduce choices for patients and families.

The Partners decision offered a chance to insist on changes that could secure both better care and lower cost for us all. That's not what happened. Martha Coakley didn’t just blink, she closed her eyes. Will you sign this petition and ask the courts to block this deal?

Skyrocketing health care costs hurt families, burden businesses, and drain resources from our state budget.

Forty-two percent of the state budget is spent on health care. Containing health care costs through improvements in our care system would allow Massachusetts to invest those resources in our education system, cutting-edge energy innovation, or added security for those who need it most.

In this deal, Martha Coakley failed to deliver. Join me and sign this petition to get us back on the right track.
