Now This: A Message to #Republicans from Robert Shepherd, speaking up for#American #Women --- He asks, "Could I say something? I have religious friends who worry a lot about abortion. But from my perspective, the issue is not so simple as throwing stones to punish a 'bad' woman (or girl), or shoot doctors you think are murderers.
"It would be easy to call abortion illegal and send the 'criminal' women to prison for murder. But is that a Christian attitude?
"WHERE IS THE MALE WHO GOT HER PREGNANT? In most cases, he has abandoned her. Yet no one talks about throwing him in jail. -- What am I missing?
"To me it seems like holier-than-thou. Arrogance and false moralism. Who are they to cast stones?
"Aren't these the 'experts' on women who tell us that RAPE is okay, because she asked for it. She secretly 'wants' it?"
By the way -- Only 3% of the Planned Parenthood budget, nationally, is spent on aborting unwanted pregnancies and NONE of that money is from tax payers -- It all comes from private donations. So what is the REAL GOP objection?
U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders is filling town halls to overflow capacity to talk about "Real Family Values." -- like a 90-day paid family maternity leave to allow parents the opportunity to bond with their new-born baby, and paid family sick leave days that allow a parent to stay home with a sick child, and federally mandated family vacation time. "The American worker is putting in 50 and 60 and 70 hours a week, and is still not really getting ahead," Sanders told a crowd on Saturday, Aug. 15 at Boone, IA. --- "In the wealthiest country in the world, we should end the international embarrassment of being the only major country that does not guarantee a family maternity leave. --- That's what I call real family values," he said.
