Previous edition: Tihange nuclear power plant evacuated after dozens killed in Brussels terror attacks

16 US Ships That Aided Japan Still Contaminated With Radiation | 14 March 2016 | Sixteen U.S. ships that participated in relief efforts after Japan's nuclear disaster five years ago remain contaminated with low levels [?] of radiation from the crippled Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant, top Navy officials told Stars and Stripes. In all, 25 ships took part in Operation Tomadachi, the name given for the U.S. humanitarian aid operations after the magnitude-9.0 earthquake and subsequent tsunami on March 11, 2011...crippled the Fukushima plant, causing a nuclear meltdown. In the years since the crisis, the ships have undergone cleanup efforts, the Navy said, and 13 Navy and three Military Sealift Command vessels still have some signs of [radioactive] contamination, mostly to ventilation systems, main engines and generators.

Belgium Fears Nuclear Plants Are Vulnerable to Terrorism | 25 March 2016 | As a dragnet aimed at Islamic State operatives spiraled across Brussels and into at least five European countries on Friday, the authorities were also focusing on a narrower but increasingly alarming threat: the vulnerability of Belgium's nuclear power plants. The investigation into this week's deadly terror attacks in Brussels has raised fresh alarm that the Islamic State was seeking to attack, infiltrate, sabotage or obtain nuclear or radioactive material in a country with an already troubled history of security lapses at its nuclear facilities, a weak intelligence apparatus and a deeply rooted terrorist network. On Friday, the authorities stripped security badges from several workers at one of two plants where all nonessential employees were sent home hours after the attacks at the Brussels airport and one of the city's busiest subway stations three days before. Surveillance footage of a top official at another Belgian nuclear facility was discovered last year in the apartment of a suspected militant linked to the suicide bombers who unleashed the horror here in Brussels, as well as those who carried out the massacre that killed 130 people in Paris in November.

Video Found in Belgium of Nuclear Official May Point to Bigger Plot | 18 Feb 2016 | A suspect linked to the Nov. 13 Paris attackers was found with surveillance footage of a high-ranking Belgian nuclear official, the Belgian authorities acknowledged on Thursday, raising fears that the Islamic State is trying to obtain radioactive material for a terrorist attack. The existence of the footage, which the police in Belgium seized on Nov. 30, was confirmed by Thierry Werts, a spokesman for Belgium’s federal prosecutor, after being reported in the Belgian daily newspaper La Dernière Heure. The news set off an immediate outcry among Belgian lawmakers, who charged that they and the country had been misled about the extent of the potential threats to the country’s nuclear facilities, as well as about the ambitions of the terrorist network linked to the Islamic State that used Belgium to plot the Paris attacks, which killed 130 people.

Islamic State Twitter accounts shockingly trace back to British intelligence services | 16 Dec 2015 | Hackers have claimed that a number of Islamic State supporters' social media accounts are being run from internet addresses linked to the Department of Work and Pensions. A group of four young computer experts who call themselves VandaSec have unearthed evidence indicating that at least three ISIS[I-CIA-SIS]-supporting accounts can be traced back to the DWP. The hacking collective showed Mirror Online details of the IP addresses used by a trio of separate digital jihadis to access Twitter accounts, which have been used to spread extremist propaganda. "Don't you think that's strange?" one of the hackers asked Mirror Online. "We traced these accounts back to London, the home of the British intelligence services."
Houston, we have a problem. CCTV footage purporting to show deadly Brussels Airport explosions was shot in 2011 | 22 March 2016 | CCTV purporting to show the deadly Brussels Airport explosions appears to be fake. The footage resembles a video of the moment a bomb attack took place at Domodedovo Airport in Russia in 2011. But the clip, which shows people walking before they duck and flee following an explosion, has been widely shared on social media since the Brussels blasts took place on Tuesday morning. VRT news agency apologised on Twitter for the CCTV footage being fake.

Yesterday, a jihadi bomb suspect walked out of Brussels Airport, where 19-year-old Mason Wells was with three other Mormon missionaries, moments before two accomplices massacred at least 34 people in a double suicide bombing, officials believe...'This is his third terrorist attack,' Chad Wells, Mason's father, told ABC News. 'This is the third time that sadly in our society that we have a connection to a bomb blast.'

Brussels Terror Arrests Update: Man Reportedly Carrying Explosives Shot, Detained | 25 March 2016 | Following this week's bombings in Brussels, Belgian police Friday detained a suspect -- purportedly carrying a suitcase full of explosives -- after shooting him in a leg during a raid, Reuters reported. The federal prosecutor's office said the arrest was one of three in Brussels connected with an arrest in Paris on Thursday of a man suspected of plotting a new attack. The most recent capture brings the total number of arrests in Belgium to nine since Thursday. Two more were arrested in Germany amid a crackdown from European officials aiming to stop further terrorist attacks after Tuesday's bombings in Brussels killed 31.

Belgian police arrest six in bombing probe, French foil Paris plot | 25 March 2016 | Belgian police arrested six people in their probe of Tuesday's Islamic State suicide bombings in Brussels, while authorities in France said they thwarted a militant plot there "that was at an advanced stage." The federal prosecutor's office in Belgium said on Thursday that the arrests came during police searches in the Brussels neighbourhoods of Schaerbeek in the north and Jette in the west, as well as in the centre of the Belgian capital. The arrests came days after suicide bombers hit the Brussels airport and a metro train, killing at least 31 people and wounding some 270 in the worst such attack in Belgian history.

Brussels Terror: Belgian Police Find Bomb-Making Factory, ISIS Flag | 22 March 2016 | Investigators carrying out raids after Tuesday's terrorist attacks in Brussels believe they've found a bomb-making factory complete with chemicals used in explosives, nails and bolts. Authorities are still hunting for one of three suspects caught on surveillance video as they pushed luggage carts through the airport. They believe he fled the gruesome, chaotic scene. ISIS claimed responsibility for the morning bombings at the airport and the subway, which killed at least 31 people. U.S. counter-terrorism officials said the claim appeared genuine -- and Belgian officials said an ISIS [I-CIA-SIS] flag was found along with bomb materials in one raid.

More false flags on the way: Isis dispatches 400 jihadis across Europe to strike in 'deadly waves' | 23 March 2016 | The Islamic State (Isis) [I-CIA-SIS] has trained and dispatched at least 400 fighters to Europe to hit the continent in deadly waves. The fanned out network of interlocking terror cells similar to the ones that struck Paris in November and Brussels yesterday have "orders to choose the time, place and method for maximum carnage." The Associated Press news agency has reported that it spoke to a number of officials, including European and Iraqi intelligence personnel and a French politician, who described camps in Syria, Iraq and possibly even the former Soviet bloc as breeding grounds where jihadis are trained to attack the West.

Risk of nuclear war in Europe growing, warns Russian ex-minister | 19 March 2016 | The East-West standoff over the [NATO-created] Ukraine crisis has brought the threat of nuclear war in Europe closer than at any time since the 1980s, a former Russian foreign minister warned on Saturday. "The risk of confrontation with the use of nuclear weapons in Europe is higher than in the 1980s," said Igor Ivanov, Russia's foreign minister from 1998 to 2004 and now head of a Moscow-based think-tank founded by the Russian government. While Russia and the United States have cut their nuclear arsenals, the pace is slowing..."We have less nuclear warheads, but the risk of them being used is growing," Ivanov said at a Brussels event with the foreign ministers of Ukraine and Poland and a U.S. lawmaker.

My head is still spinning...Then came the Presidential Ballot. Someone shows up with a stack of probably 250 ballots. The precinct chair splits them up, and starts handing stacks of them out and tells people "take one and pass it down". No checking credentials, IDs, NOTHING. I'm sitting at the end of a row and people start handing me stacks of extras. I literally had over 50 ballots in my hand...As I left the building, I started overhearing results coming back from other precincts...Overwhelmingly numbers for Cruz...Like 70-90% or more. (In one precinct Cruz got around 100, Trump had 2, Kasich 0.) ...There were no apparent controls, no credential checks, no ID checks, and ballots being handed around like napkins. UTAH RESULTS ARE A COMPLETE SHAM. And it just cost Trump 40 delegates.
