Abraham Lincoln said, “Whenever I hear anyone arguing for slavery I feel a strong impulse to see it tried on him personally. So whenever I hear men advocating the denial of rights to others, I feel an impulse to see how they personally would appreciate the denial of those rights for themselves.”
And on another occasion, he said, “Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves, and, under a just God cannot retain it.”
