Compression Obsession

A candidate for re-election to the Middleboro Board of Selectmen has one obsession: COMPRESSION. Whether the option is viable or not, his narrow focus has allowed him to remain silent when he has support other actions where money might have been saved.
.
In this case, he was wrong both times.
.
Posted on the PTWS -- in his own words -- after all of these years on the BOS, wouldn't you think he'd have a clue?
.
[Of the discussion regarding hiring a new town accountant, the following are some of the comments]

EXECUTIVE SESSION
APRIL 9, 2007

Selectman Spataro asked about appointing Judy MacDonald as Acting Town Accountant.

Chairwoman Brunelle said this couldn’t be done as the positions are “checks and balances” for each other.

Selectman Spataro asked about appointing a Finance Officer.

Chairwoman Brunelle said you would still have to have a Town Accountant, Treasurer/Collector, and Assessor.

Selectman Spataro asked if it would cut out a layer of management.

EXECUTIVE SESSION
APRIL 25, 2007

Selectman Spataro noted that it was announced in open session that an Interim Fire Chief had been appointed.

Selectman Spataro clarified that it was legitimate to take the vote in executive session, but it just has to be announced in open session rather than taking another vote.

What's up with an interim fire chief? I thought there had been an out of town appointed permanent fire chief? They still TRYING to make Wikerstein the chief? That would be a total disaster for all even the firefighters would be off the wall. Why wasn't George Andrade considered when he was the most qualified as well as most likely to do the job fairly? Because he is not loved by the BOS and TM who follows the BOS.

First of all this was a "post" in 2007,
when they sneakedly went behind closed doors to pick the interim, I'm sure one of the above named was also in attendance, after all look how he got a promotion.
They do have a new Fire Chief and he is from out of town, hence, has no buddies in the department to protect and promote. I think if you
ask Mr. Andrade he would agree with the selection. Its just time to end the friendship clause in all departments, that way people who deserve the positions get them, and not people, who don't! I often wonder how these such employees can look at themselves in the
mirror and actually say "I got this job
on my own"! Wouldn't want to be in their shoes.
And whats always nice an outsider has no one to protect, so therefore, the truth always comes out one way or another. HHHMMMMMMMM

Hopefully, they will appoint the same an outsider for police chief.

My guess is GATSEY. Any doubt there? The dept. will NEVER change. They like it the way it is. Do what you want just don't get caught then if you do, we'll cover your bum. They are CONSISTANT there.

The most obvious Spataro missed combining DPW, Water, Waste Water. That's a 3 for.
The man is brain dead.
When Ted retired Spataro wanted to combine COA, Park, Library. Wasn't anyone paying attention to this man's comments? That was one of the dumbest things I ever heard.
