Wisdom?

Wisdom is knowing when a scenario with which you are involved is beyond your expertise and requires advice and counsel of competent EXPERTS.

Wisdom is knowing your skills well enough to comprehend complexities and undertake the pertinent actions to solicit opinion from appropriate parties.

The following 2 quotes seem to confirm residents' suspicions that the Middleboro Board of Selectmen can NEVER being accused of acting wisely --

When they meet in April, Selectwoman Marsha L. Brunelle said she would like the tribe to address rumors that they may be scaling back the size of the proposed casino.

Selectwoman Muriel Duphily said she would like to know the status of the casino after the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in February that Congress must approve all applications to take land into federal trust for Indian tribes.

There seems to be some confusion about this matter --

The selectmen initially made a request in January to meet with the tribe but had not received a response until last week.
.
How was the BOS notified? Writing? Phone call? For those who have been paying attention to the questions that have been asked during BOS Meetings, this seems to be a new BOS game of dodging questions. Or can the origin be explained by the meetings the Town Manager, Charles Cristello has had with the Tribe that he seems confused about?
.
Transparency, anyone?
.
Thanks Ms. Elwell for confirming what residents already know.

Marsha Brunelle, who confuses blog and email, and
Mimi Duphily, who confuses her duties with planting flowers,

You might try reading what friend and fellow blogger Carver Chick had to say. CC has already answered your question.
.
I hand-delivered a copy of Carcieri v Salazar, the SCOTUS decision, to your secretary and respectfully requested that you have counsel review the decision and provide a legal opinion for the benefit and protection of the Town of Middleboro. I included a pair of glasses since the the BOS seems not to see clearly.

It's an opportunity to vote for change.

Even when they get an expert opinion, they ignore it because they know better. Mimi is way out of her league, and the Selectmen apparently don't know how to read.

SCOTUS rendered the issue irrelevant to Town planning.
This BOS better get their act together to figure out what the ramifications are.
Supporters are still in denial. Haven't figured out "There will be NO Casino in Middleboro".
They need to ask important questions, maybe "who's going to jail?"

anon,

Mimi is extremely likeable, but has failed to make the appropriate commitment of her time to learning the responsibilities of the position and has failed to participate in other duties that fall to the BOS.

The quotes speak poorly of the BOS, but appropriately define the Board.

Mrs. Brunelle sounds more stupid with each comment. That doesn't surprise anyone. She's only there to protect hubby.

You forgot to add a note to Roger-can you print this and pass this to Marsha?

Anonymous said...

It was ok when no one was paying attention to have these people in office. Since you troublemakers who take the time to look up laws and do your research

whoooaaaa!

Most things an idiot says makes them look stupid. I'm sure it didn't require much effort on the reporter's part.

Wisdom?

Wisdom?

Wisdom?

Got that right!

No one would accuse Middleborough of that!

Anonymous said...

Ask the Tribe?

How stupid! Absolutely stupid!

Pro or anti stupidity doesn't matter.

I saw that article and was mad. OK, so I was mad after I stopped laughing. Elwell did a good job. Maybe those she quoted can see how dumb they look.

Naw! Forget that!

I don't understand the law but when I caught Marsha's comment ......

My God!

Marsha, remember to ask Roger what you're supposed to say before you make a comment.

If Mimi isn't flipping pancakes or planting flowers she's lost.

Too bad her supporters seem just as uninformed.

Read the decision before you criticize.

I follow the comments posted in all sorts of places but won't post anywhere except your blog. I don't always agree with you and have read most of what you've said. You have a good foundation of facts and provide some great links. What I look for is substance.

Our Board of Selectmen lack not only substance but the facts, the research, the opinions of people like Whittlesley. If you listen to them expecially Mimi who hasn't even read the agreement this stuff is really scary. These people are running this town no wonder we're in this mess.

No wonder Jack got away with what he did and Cristello is following the same path.

Hope you're reading Charlie because I'm a voter and not happy.

Sure Mimi, let's ask the tribe youre buddies what they think. Have you returned youre cheap gifts yet?

Mimi, try asking an attorney.

Marsha, read IGRA. It's posted on the internet. You know. Thats the new fangled tecnoligy that might be working somday. That place where you do your emails. Maybe Roger can explain it to ya. Rumors? Figure it out, Marsha, dear. Can't amend the application. Dont work that way.

Mimi fits in well with the league. They are all way in over their heads. Wayne and Jack knew when to get the hell out. Sad part is he will now more than likely be the monitor. So we will get to listen to his shit kicking talk and ignorance and lack of respect for the taxpayers.

Alls I gotta say is Im voting saterday nothing to do with the casino just cannt keep putting dumb people in office and thinking its gonna get better

Anonymous said...

I sat back and watched the town go to hell with wayne
we need smarter people

Marsha used to work for the town and things that made sense. I'm sorry I voted for her.

That episode about being sick and tired of this crap made me think about all of the things she's done.

There is no single issue that changed my mind and your comments made me watched because I knew your wrong. Roger and Marsha are the bigest roadblocks to the town moving forward. Things changed they didnt

The deficit in Middleborough might cause cuts in things that we need, things that are important to children and seniors.

When the Town Manager was explaining the budget cuts on budgets that are already mostly labor costs because of Wayne Perkins' 36% pay raises (at your suggestion, I have copies of the contracts), no one on the board made a substantive comment.

On Monday nights, we babysit for our grandchildren and watch the Board of Selectmen's meeting.

We try to remain calm and if you hear young children on the playground talk about Gram watching the Board of Clowns, they're my grandchildren!

There was never a time in all of the years we've lived in Middleborough that a Board has been this bad.

Anonymous said...

Duh?

They need more than reading glasses.

The reporter is a nice lady and does what she can when dealing with fools.

Nice try!

You expected what? Brilliance?

Anonymous said...

How funny that 'we want to talk about rumors?'

Looks like not only is Peter Cotton Tail coming for Easter but according to tonights Brockton Enterprise Roger Rabbit is on his way out with his IT department. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Also, Steve questioned why there could not be one secretary for the fire and police dept. The answer should be loud and clear. Diane was owed a favor and got the job for the fire dept. not to mention the family ties. They wouldn't let Bob Silva have a secretary but GARY the two time chief of all made sure he got one for the fire department. Yes, most towns are combined dispacthers as well as a secretary for the police and fire dept. But we just keep giving more and more money and benefit packages out. Is it really Christmas year round in town? Hey any way, looks like Roger will be soon UNEMPLOYED. THANK YOU.... Take your gavel queen with you and don't let the door hit you in the azz on your way out you under worked over paid chump.

Anonymous said...

The comments are embarassing to me because of their ignorance. Don't they see it?

Anonymous said...

Change may begin on April 4 but voters need to pay attention.

Anonymous said...

If you are a supporter of those chumps, you should be embarrassed. They do see it, they just don't give a damn so GET OUT AND VOTE. Just think Perkins will more than likely get in and we have to look at his mug and listen to his BS all over again. I'm sure someone will find Roger another position. Why don't he run for his wifes seat? Oh it's too late and it don't pay. TIme for ALL NEW BLOOD AND CHANGE including out of town department heads that basicaly are running the town to a certain degree. I say we should be kissin the planning board director bye bye also. She is over paid, loud, obnoxious and costing us lots of T MONEY.
