It's hard to tell which is cuter -- the smile or the tail! This is Lexxi, a 5 year-old pittie saved from AC&C by Posh Pets Rescue, and thriving (as you can see) in her foster home. She weighs 47lbs and loves the other dogs she lives with, and those she meets on the street. Find out about bringing Lexxi home on her Adopt NY page: www.adoptny.org/lexxi/

Nala is a middle-aged-to-older girl, currently at Brooklyn ACC, and she WILL BE ON THE LIST TONIGHT. :( She isn't doing well at the shelter, and she desperately needs a home where she can decompress and feel safe, again. Please start sharing her plea NOW!

Behavior: New Hope Only
Nala walks calmly on the leash, but was fearful during the assessment and was tense during handling, with fearful body language. She had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. Nala was not interested in food, toys or rawhides and does not approach the helper dog, attempts to exit.
Look: 4. Dog holds eye contact while remaining motionless with ears forward. Her body is stiff and becomes stiffer as assessment progresses.
Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and bit fearful.
Squeeze 1 & 2: 3. Dog closes mouth, becomes stiff.
Food: Inconclusive, dog is not eating. Reassess at future date.
Toy: No interest. Reassess at future date.
Rawhide: 1. No interest. Reassess at future date.

DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

For more information on a particular dog, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions.

 W Shelter Bullies
We lose a lot of wonderful pit bulls in high kills shelters that are already housebroken, love other animals, love children and are already spayed/neutered because the owners are moving and the high kill shelter they drop them off at only gives them two days to get out and they don't market them at all, so they are pretty much dead on arrival. If you are one of these people and take your adoptable pit bull to a high kill shelter because you are MOVING, you are part of the problem. If you loved your dog you would try to find a good home for them before you move or you would do your research on local shelters that are No Kill before you let them down and give them up. If you don't do these things, please move your butts to Ontario, Cananda, they won't allow you to even have a pit bull.

PLEASE help share all the dogs in the Super Urgent folder. They are in severe danger of being killed. I am sure there is a type of dog for every person.. Senior throwaways, emaciated neglected, Severely Injured, and some that somehow survived the kill list previously...
Super Urgent - These dogs are either high risk, injured or have previously appeared on the "To Be Destroyed" list and survived. They are in danger of being on the list again or destroyed without any further notice. When calling the shelters, you will get a recording. Do not leave a message! They do not check those machi...nes!! Hit 0 at the end of each message cycle and, eventually, someone will pick up. It may take 30 minutes, but they will answer. Do not give up, a life is depending on you!For more information on HOW TO ADOPT, please go to: https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=405703306122877 For more information on fostering a dog, please contact your local rescue.LIST OF RESCUE WHO CAN PULL FROM NYCACC: http://www.urgentdeathrowdogs.org/how-you-can-help/how-togroup1/adopt.html For more info on behavior codes and ratings, please read here: https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=283116538381555See More
