Ike - Ike is a four year old male, chocolate lab who was rescued from a puppy mill. He has been in a foster home since his rescue a year ago. He came to rescue with his breeding mate who has since found her forever home. Ike, who has been blind since birth from Micropthalmia, had been living in a 10x10 kennel with his girl and was extremely underweight, dehydrated and covered in feces. At his first vet visit he weighed in at 36 pounds. Because of his poor physical condition he had to be carried outside to use the bathroom during the first week that he was at his foster home. He eventually regained enough muscle tone to walk unassisted and has now gained about thirty pounds. Ike's foster home has children in it, ranging in age from 11 to 2 years of age. He has been exposed to other dogs and cats as well as a variety of farm animals, including alpaca, sheep, goats, cows, horses, ducks and chickens without any issues. Ike is kennel trained and does well in the house when he becomes familiar with the placement of furniture and other objects. He has a great temperament and would make a wonderful addition to a loving home.
