Daniel Webster's law license suspended

In case you missed it .....

Each political party attracts candidates who ignore the law, just as not every priest molested children, yet too many are willing to label a single party as 'corrupt.'

It should be noted that former Rep. Daniel Webster is a Republican. Since the Republican Party in Massachusetts is so greatly outnumbered, statistically a single corrupt Republican should be worth 20 corrupt Democrats. The absurdity should be apparent.

The agency that supervises the conduct of Massachusetts lawyers has agreed to suspend the law license of a former state representative from Hanson.

The Board of Bar Overseers voted unanimously Monday night to approve an agreement brokered between former state Rep. Daniel Webster, R-Hanson, and an investigative body known as the Office of the Bar Counsel. The deal says Webster, who runs a private practice in Pembroke, will lose his law license for nine months. Webster admitted to misusing a client’s funds in 2009 and 2010.

Approval from the Board of Bar Overseers was needed before the suspension could be imposed.

Next, a justice from the state’s Supreme Judicial Court must order the suspension. Michael Fredrickson, general counsel for the bar overseers, said a justice will likely issue an order by the end of next week.

Webster, who represented the 6th Plymouth District on Beacon Hill from 2003 until last month, gave no comment on the suspension when reached by phone Wednesday.
