Oliver came to Found Chicago just a few days ago. His former people had brought him to HEAL Veterinary Clinic and decided they no longer wanted him. They had asked to have Oliver euthanized but our friends at Heal convinced them to give him up instead. Then our friends asked us to help find Oliver a home and that's exactly what we're going to do! Please help us welcome Oliver into Found Chicago family.

If you would like to help Oliver or other dogs in need, please donate or sponsor. No amount is too small and every contribution directly helps homeless and disadvantaged dogs.

Zeus is my name, I am just hanging out wondering what I did wrong to be here, in a pound? I am a good boy, and I am only a puppy, at 9 and a half months. Did you know that my name means living? I want to live and have so much life to give to a wonderful family. I can give a family not only my faithful companionship, but my exuberance for life itself. I love to run and play, so couch potatoes need not apply to adopt me. I would love to find a family who would like to take me on hikes, play hours of fetch, and at the end of a long day, cuddle on the couch with me. I am also a good listener, I would love to hear about your day. I might not be able to talk, but I sure got tons of sand papery, wet kisses just waiting for you. Give me a chance, of a good life. I know we can be inseparable, and I know I will begin my new life the day you spring me from this pound!! Please share Zeus!!!!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper Dog: A0958698 ** Due to the information provided by the previous owner, Roffy should go to a home without cats, dogs and small children. ** Roffy pulls on the leash, and was more interested in the surroundings than the handler during the assessment. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position. Dog's mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

For more information on a particular dog, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go unnoticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions

The SAFER isn't Boyee's thing, really. But, it doesn't necessarily mean that he's not a good dog; in fact, his volunteer bio paints the picture of a very special soul: "Boyee is a very handsome fellow, all dressed up in a fancy black tux and ready to get out on the town! He was sporting a nice leather collar when found and given his perfect weight and glossy coat, it seems likely that Boyee was someones pet before being brought to the center as a stray. Understandably, such a sudden change in circumstance isn't an easy adjustment for a gentleman of 4 years and when I approach his den, Boyee barks at me and isn't eager to be leashed. But as soon as I close the door, he comes to the front of the kennel and I see that his tail wags constantly through the barking. I know that tail is saying 'I'm not a bad boy, I'm just very scared and I don't know what you want from me' so I open the door to try again. This time I loop the leash over his neck and immediately his barking stops because Boyee knows what time it is - walk time! He cautiously steps down and we stroll outside where he soon takes care of business. Boyee is timid and when I pet him he looks at me with soft but unsure eyes, am I a friend? He is willing to give me a chance and allows me to softly caress his head and offer him some gentle side rubs. Boyee wants to belong to someone again, to feel secure in his surroundings and to know that he is loved and understood. Open your heart and home to Boyee and experience the joy of being 'the one', the savior and true love of a very special boy."

MOST RECENT MEDICAL RATING, BEHAVIOR RATING & WEIGHT
03/31/2013 Exam Type BEHAVIOR - Medical Rating is 1 - NORMAL , Behavior Rating is NH ONLY, Weight 50.4 LBS.

helper dog: A0956911 Boyee was a bit difficult to remove from the cage as he kept dodging the assessor's leash while barking and snapping at it but once he was looped Boyee came out with no resistance and walked nicely for his relief walk. He was calm but tense during the assessment and kept his distance from the assessor throughout. Unfortunately even after giving him extra time to acclimate to the assessor and eval room, Boyee proved not social and would not freely engage the assessor, rather he continually looked for an exit. The handling and arousal portions of SAFER were omitted due to safety concerns and only resource guarding and dog-dog were attempted. Boyee was not interested in dog food so we used a higher value cat food instead. He was easy to handle when taking the food away. Boyee was not interested in toys but took the rawhide and body blocked the assessor from removing it, though he was calm and soft while doing so. Boyee would not reenter the eval room for the dog-dog, although he saw the helper dog, he was not interested in interacting with him. Food: 1. Dog lifts head and ceases eating when you reach to pull the bowl away or push him out. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy or rawhide, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Dog-dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog. Turns body to side in relation to other dog, or exits.

For more information on adopting please read the following:
https://www.facebook.com/Urgentdeathrowdogs/app_137541772984354

Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions.

How does pledging work? Pledging is a promise to pay for a particular animal in need. You can pledge any amount you like - every bit helps. Rescues depend on donations to help animals in their care with medical issues so your dollars support their ability to help ACC animals every day. ...

SHARE TO SAVE MADISON!

http://hendrickboards.com/s/madison

Madison was found dumped in the streets. When she arrived at shelter, she was scared, emaciated, covered in fleas, had raging demodectic mange and raw skin from chemical burn on her back. Our friends at Furry Friends Rescue rescued her and are fighting to save her. Aside from continuing medication and medicated bath treatments, Madison may need surgery on her rear legs/hips due to joint injuries.
