CONGRESS CUTS FOOD STAMPS (SNAP) TO 24 % NATIVE AMERICAN HOUSEHOLDS....FORCING OUTRIGHT HUNGER ON MANY
For Native Americans in the United States, the effects of Congressional Food Stamp (SNAP) cuts will be especially brutal, snatching millions of dollars in $$$ for food purchases directly from the mouths of Native American families , children and seniors.Twenty Four (24) percent of all Native American households in the United States received Food Stamp benefits, compared to roughly 13 percent of all U.S. households. The nationwide food insecurity average for all Native American adults, not just Food Stamp beneficiaries, is one in four (1/4)—meaning one in every four Native Americans is food insecure. One in three (1/3) Native American children are food insecure. In total, roughly 22 percent of American Indians do not have sufficient food maintain healthy lives.
Even more astonishing !!! One in ten Native American households experience OUTRIGHT HUNGER, which goes well beyond limited or difficult access to food. These households go hungry because they simply cannot afford to eat.
