Let's not have another Senator 'Scooter' Brown

Outside interests generously funded the campaign of former Massachusetts Senator 'Scooter' Brown, forcing him to become a New Hampshire carpetbagger. [Massachusetts voters recognized his misrepresentation of his record and expelled him. Great as a center-fold, but lacking elsewhere.]

Let's not allow ourselves to be fooled again simply because of advertising and Koch dollars.

Citizens United opened the floodgates for Kochs and their likes to buy elections without disclosure. Let's end it!

Please stand with our great Massachusetts Senator, Ed Markey and stop the Sale of Democracy!

This month marks the 4th anniversary of the Citizens United decision. And you can be sure the special interests are celebrating -- but they won't be inviting the people of Massachusetts to the party. We won’t even be receiving a gift. These corporate and special interests will continue to receive their annual gift though, in the form of a disastrous ruling that allows them to run roughshod over our democratic process.

A recent report by the Center for Responsive Politics estimates that the Koch brothers and their web of special interest groups pumped $407 million into races all across the country in 2012. This year alone, the Koch brothers-backed group Americans for Prosperity has bragged that it’s already spent $22 million ahead of this November’s elections.

That’s why I’m joining up with some of my colleagues to collect 400,000 signatures by the end of the month to put a stop Citizens United once and for all. Add your voice to ours. Sign the petition and become part of the movement today.
Outside special interests shouldn’t be able to influence our elections with their secretive money contributions. Our campaign finance system should not allow an open faucet of undisclosed and unlimited money to drown out our democracy.

The power of our democracy belongs with the people. It’s time to end the four year, special interest reign on our election system.

Join me and my colleagues to call on Congress to end Citizens United now.

Thank you for all your support and for joining with me on this important cause.
