Gov. Nixon Directs National Guard to Ferguson 18 Aug 2014 Gov. Jay Nixon (D) has signed an executive order directing additional resources through the Missouri National Guard "to help restore peace and order and to protect the citizens of Ferguson." Early Monday morning, Nixon's office released a statement, including the following declaration: "...Given these deliberate, coordinated and intensifying violent attacks on lives and property in Ferguson, I am directing the highly capable men and women of the Missouri National Guard to assist Colonel Ron Replogle and the Unified Command in restoring peace and order to this community."


Autopsy Shows Michael Brown Was Struck at Least 6 Times 17 Aug 2014 Michael Brown, the unarmed black teenager who was killed by a police officer, sparking protests around the nation, was shot at least six times, including twice in the head, a preliminary private autopsy performed on Sunday found. One of the bullets entered the top of Mr. Brown's skull, suggesting his head was bent forward when it struck him and caused a fatal injury, according to Dr. Michael M. Baden, the former chief medical examiner for the City of New York, who flew to Missouri on Sunday at the family's request to conduct the separate autopsy. It was likely the last of bullets to hit him, he said.

Tear Gas Fired on Streets of Ferguson, Missouri Ahead of Curfew 17 Aug 2014 As people in Ferguson continued grappling with the police-involved killing of an unarmed 18-year-old more than a week ago, tear gas, armored vehicles, and flares were being used on protesters shortly after 10 p.m. on Sunday night, according to NBC affiliate KSDK. The chaos erupted as a state imposed curfew was set to begin at midnight. A police captain told NBC News that several people were throwing Molotov cocktails behind a strip mall.

James Risen calls Obama 'greatest enemy of press freedom in a generation' 17 Aug 2014 The New York Times reporter James Risen, who faces jail over his refusal to reveal a source and testify against a former CIA agent accused of leaking secrets, has called President Barack Obama "the greatest enemy of press freedom in a generation". Speaking to his colleague Maureen Dowd, Risen accused the president of aggressively pursuing journalists, including himself, who report sensitive stories that reflect poorly on the US government. Risen faces jail over his reporting of a botched intelligence operation that ended up spilling nuclear secrets to Iran. The Justice Department has long been seeking to force him to testify and name the confidential source of the account, which is contained in his 2006 book State of War.


Police: 'Do not be alarmed,' FBI mock terrorism exercise tonight at Indianapolis mall 17 Aug 2014 The Federal Bureau of Investigation will hold a mock terrorism exercise with 11 state and local public safety agencies at the Greenwood Park Mall this evening. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department this afternoon posted a notice to Facebook warning residents to steer clear of the training exercise, which runs from 6 p.m. to midnight at 1251 U.S. 31 N...The exercise, known as the Indianapolis Complex Terrorist Attack Mall Scenario Full Scale Exercise (or #INDYMALLEX), is a training scenario designed to evaluate how law enforcement and emergency services would respond to a terrorist attack [or false flag].


US military confirms airstrikes in Iraq near Erbil and Mosul dam 17 Aug 2014 The US military confirms it has conducted airstrikes against ISIL in northern Iraq near Erbil and around the Mosul dam to help Peshmerga Kurdish forces to retake the dam from militants. ISIS Leader Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi Trained by US, UK Intelligence and Mossad - NSA Documents 16 July 2014 The former employee at US National Security Agency (NSA), Edward Snowden, has revealed that the British and American intelligence and the Mossad worked together to create the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Snowden said intelligence services of three countries created a terrorist organisation that is able to attract all extremists of the world to one place, using a strategy called "the hornet's nest". NSA documents refer to recent implementation of the hornet's nest to protect Israel by creating religious and Islamic slogans.


Israeli ship remains at sea as thousands of protesters gather in Oakland --Blockade delayed as word spreads that ship is off the coast of California, closer to Santa Cruz, and won't be docking that day 17 Aug 2014 An Israeli ship that was scheduled to dock at the port of Oakland in California on Saturday remained at sea as between 2,000 and 3,000 pro-Palestinian activists streamed towards the port entrance, chanting and waving flags. The protesters intended to form a picket line to prevent work crews from unloading the ship. Activists had originally planned to meet at 5am for a blockade of the Zim Integrated Shipping Services vessel, but word that its arrival had been delayed prompted organisers to push the protest back until later in the afternoon.

Secret Service investigating photo of Islamic State flag outside of White House 15 Aug 2014 A recent social media posting believed to be a message supporting the Islamic State militant group sent from outside of the White House has attracted the attention of the United States Secret Service. Ed Donovan, a spokesperson for the federal law enforcement agency, told ABC News that the Secret Service is "aware" of a photo tweeted on August 9 that appears to show the flag of the group formerly known as the [Mossad owned and operated] Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, displayed on a smart phone being held near the fence on the north side of the presidential residence in Washington, DC.


Kiev Continues Attacks on Six Cities in Southeastern Ukraine 17 Aug 2014 Ukrainian security forces continue their offensive in six cities in the Donetsk region, the spokesperson of the National Security and Defense Council said Sunday. The security forces are trying to take control of Donetsk, Luhansk, Horlivka, Pervomaisk, Ilovaisk and Krasnyi Luch, spokesperson Andriy Lysenko said. They also hold the high ground near the mound Savur-Mohyla, where the militia is trying to drive them off. Since mid-April, Kiev authorities have been carrying out a military operation in the east of Ukraine against the independence supporters who refused to recognize the legitimacy of the new government after February coup.


South Korea, US launch joint military exercise --North Korea says military exercise is practice for invasion 18 Aug 2014 South Korea and the United States have launched a joint military exercise. The annual Ulchi Freedom Guardian drill started early on Monday and will last until August 29, South Korea's Defense Ministry said. Thousands of South Korean and US soldiers participate in the drill, which has angered Pyongyang officials.


Trains Carrying Toxic Chemicals Crash Head-On in Arkansas --Hundreds of people are evacuated after the trains smashed into each other and exploded into flames in northeast Arkansas. 17 Aug 2014 Two freight trains carrying toxic chemicals have crashed head-on in the US, killing two people and injuring two others. Firefighters spent seven hours extinguishing the fire as diesel and chemicals on board burst into flames. Around 500 people were evacuated from the crash scene in Hoxie, a small town in northeast Arkansas.


Pigs at the trough: Christie's lawyers bill N.J. taxpayers $6.52 million for Bridgegate so far 16 Aug 2014 New Jersey taxpayers have been billed $6.52 million so far this year by Gov. Chris Christie's private attorneys dealing with the aftermath of the George Washington Bridge scandal, according to invoices released today by acting state Attorney General John Hoffman. Lawyers at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher billed $3.26 million in March and April, the invoices show. They also billed $3.26 million in January and February, according to previous invoices. At $650 an hour, the firm's rate is a steep discount, it says. With ongoing state and federal investigations into the massive traffic jam at the foot of the world's busiest bridge last year, Gibson Dunn and other law firms may still be billing for work beyond April.
