Special note: Rick Perry and cronies attack anti-corruption group and more!

Rick Perry’s Spin Machine and Right-wing Tea Party Hate Machine are making a combined, all-out attack on an invaluable group called Texans for Public Justice.

Why are they attacking Texans for Public Justice? Because this small group is extremely effective at exposing politicians of both parties who are engaged in corruption. Republicans are furious (1) TPJ filed the official complaint that led to Tom DeLay’s conviction and resignation from Congress, and (2) the group also filed the criminal complaint that has now led to a grand jury felony indictment of Gov. Rick Perry.

Why does TPJ need our help? Because the group is besieged with hate mail, calls, and threats – completely overwhelming its 3 person staff and forcing them to fight off the devil’s rather than do its work. Dealing with the attacks is fast-depleting TPJ’s small budget, and the group needs immediate help with funding to stay in this important fight.

Also, Perry and his henchmen are in full spin cycle, preventing the national media’s coverage of the indictment into a “poor Rick” story, blaming TPJ an progressives generally for a “politically motivated” persecution. Here are some links that tell the real story of Perry’s abuse of power:

The dishonest, vituperative attacks on TPJ is the same tactic the right-wing has used to destroy other progressive groups, picking us off one at a time. This time, let’s stand up for our besieged ally that has an unmatched record of integrity and is being threatened only because it exposed Perry’s corruption, leading to action by a Republican judge and special prosecutor with solid Republican credentials.

What to do? Spread the word about Texans for Public Justice to your contact lists, and please donate any amount you can to sustain these fighters for truth and ethics in this critical time: http://www.tpj.org/1997/01/support-tpj.html

Thank you! And Keep Agitating!
