The Heroes!

There are many heroes who have stood up to DIRTY ENERGY and fought the KOCH BROTHERS!

Below, are several who have been targeted by DIRTY ENERGY $$$ because of their heroic stands.

Please consider making a contribution to stand against Big Money.

I won my primary in Hawaii last week by just over 1,700 votes. It was an incredibly close, hard-fought race, but your support and GiveGreen contributions were essential to our victory. Because of you, we had the resources we needed to knock on doors, hit the phones, and get out the vote.

But the battle for control of the U.S. Senate is just heating up. We have a long way to go until November, and there are many close races. Just six seats will determine the fate of the Senate and our environmental firewall. We’re laser-focusing on Colorado, Iowa, and North Carolina this weekend, where climate change deniers are running against environmental leaders and are edging dangerously close to victory.

Here’s a look at what we’re up against:

  • Rep. Cory Gardner, Colorado: If Cory Gardner wins in Colorado, Big Oil wins; it’s as simple as that. Not only has Gardner taken more than $450,000 in contributions from the oil and gas industry, he’s repeatedly voted to protect their tax breaks, subsidies, and giveaways. He has a dismal 9% lifetime score on LCV’s National Environmental Scorecard. Don’t let this pro-polluter candidate take out one of our best environmental champions. • Joni Ernst, Iowa: Remember Sarah Palin and drill, baby, drill? Well, Joni Ernst is Palin 2.0. Ernst not only has Palin’s endorsement and the support of the Koch Brothers, she has also promised to “shut down the EPA,” cutting clean air and water protection programs and letting polluters off the hook. She’s too extreme for Iowa, too extreme for our country. Donate to Rep. Bruce Braley today >>
  • Thom Tillis, North Carolina: Tillis has proven his allegiance to the dirty energy industry, even in the wake of environmental disaster. Last year he pushed through legislation that protects leaking coal ash ponds. Now, because of his actions, consumers may actually be stuck with the cost of cleaning up these ponds. This is the same politician who, when asked if climate change was a fact, simply replied, “no.” If he’s willing to stand by the dirty energy industry now, who knows what he’ll do in the U.S. Senate. Jessie, if we lose the pro-environment majority in the Senate, the anti-science, anti-commonsense, climate change-denying legislation flying out of the House won’t just go unchecked -- it could actually be exacerbated by the incoming deniers.

I’ve worked with Kay Hagan and Mark Udall in the Senate, and Representative Braley as well. They are the real deal, and I need them by my side in the fight for commonsense environmental protections that will ensure a better future for our children. But it won’t happen without your support. Will you chip in just $10 this weekend to ensure a victory for our planet and our future?

Thanks for taking action today.

Sincerely,

Shatz
