Police cite 68-year-old woman who crashed into Arlington Dunkin' Donuts

Police have cited a 68-year-old Somerville woman who crashed her car through the storefront glass of a Dunkin' Donuts in Arlington Sunday evening.

No one was injured in the accident, but police said the Dunkin Donuts at 21 Summer St. was open when driver Elizabeth Campo drove through the front door about 5:15 p.m.

Campo had her 5-year-old grandchild in her Toyota at the time of the crash. Arlington Police Chief Fred Ryan said Campo was unable to give police a valid explanation as to how the crash occurred.

Police cited Campo with negligent operation of a vehicle so as to endanger the public.

Ryan said police have also filed an immediate threat affidavit with the state Registry of Motor Vehicles against Campo because the responding officer felt that if Campo continues to operate a motor vehicle she could compromise public safety.

Despite the crash, the Dunkin Donuts is open for business today.
