U.S. ally Saudi Arabia hiring 8 new executioners after 2015 beheadings hit 85 | 19 May 2015 | Saudi Arabia, which executes more criminals than any nation except China and Iran, wants to hire eight new executioners. A surge in executions has been witnessed under new King Salman's rule. The job description published online on Monday says no special training is required from applicants. The executioners would be required to behead condemned criminals in public as well as carry out amputations on those convicted of lesser offenses, Reuters reported. The executioners would be considered as 'religious functionaries', since they would be serving religious courts and be on the lower end of the civil service pay scale, the ad said. [Gee, no outcry from anyone in the US government -- particularly the hypocritical sacks of neocon garbage in the Congress who have such disdain for 'militant Islam' -- or the corporate-run US media? *Apparently,* only beheadings by ISIS (I-CIA-SIS) shock the US conscience. --LRP]
What do Anne Boleyn, Saudi Arabia, and 19 May have in common? By Lori Price | 19 May 2015 | On 19 May 1536, Anne Boleyn was beheaded in by King Henry VIII in London. On 19 May 2015, beheadings have reached 85 by King Salman in Saudi Arabia. Also notable, King Salman is 'headhunting' for eight new executioners, to carry out more beheadings. At least Anne Boleyn got the expert swordsman from Calais! King Salman is seeking executioners with 'no special training.' King Salman's beheaders "would be considered as 'religious functionaries', since they would be serving religious courts and be on the lower end of the civil service pay scale, the ad said." King Henry VIII executed many 'heretics.' One king is criticized in the West for his injustices; one king (running 'neck-and-neck' with ISIS) is praised as an ally of the West for his oil.
Saudi Arabia 'to get nuclear weapons' | 17 May 2015 | Saudi Arabia has taken the "strategic decision" to acquire "off-the-shelf" atomic weapons from Pakistan, risking a new arms race in the Middle East, according to senior American officials. The move by the Gulf kingdom [of terrorists], which has financed much of Islamabad's nuclear programme over the past three decades, comes amid growing anger among Sunni Arab states over a deal backed by President Barack Obama, which they 'fear' could allow their arch foe, Shi’ite Iran, to develop a nuclear bomb. The agreement, which is due to be finalised by the end of next month and involves the permanent members of the UN security council and Germany, is designed to roll back part of Tehran's nuclear programme in return for an easing of UN sanctions.
Iraq deploys tanks as Islamic State tightens grip on Ramadi | 19 May 2015 | Iraqi security forces on Tuesday deployed tanks and artillery around Ramadi to confront Islamic State fighters who have captured the city in a major defeat for the Baghdad government and its Western backers. After Ramadi fell on Sunday, Shi'ite militiamen allied to the Iraqi army had advanced to a nearby base in preparation for a counterattack on the city, which lies in the Sunni Muslim province of Anbar, just 110 km (70 miles) northwest of Baghdad. As pressure mounted for action to retake the city, a local government official urged Ramadi residents to join the police and the army for what the Shi'ite militiamen said would be the "Battle of Anbar".
ISIS seizes control of key Iraqi city Ramadi as government forces pull back --Pentagon: Coalition will support efforts to 'take back' Ramadi | 18 May 2015 | The key Iraqi city of Ramadi [I-CIA-SIS] fell to ISIS on Sunday after government security forces pulled out of a military base on the west side of the city, officials said. The ISIS advances came after militants detonated a series of morning car bomb blasts, Mayor Dalaf al-Kubaisy and a high-ranking Iraqi security official said. The explosions forced Iraqi security forces and tribal fighters to retreat to the city's east, they said.
US special forces kill Isis commander and capture wife in Syria raid --Pentagon spokesman tells Guardian: 'No one's going to Gitmo' | 16 May 2015 | US special operations forces have killed an Islamic State commander through a dramatic and secretive raid into Syria and have taken a woman prisoner, the first US-held detainee of the war against Isis [I-CIA-SIS] and a move that places immediate stress on one of Barack Obama's signature wartime policies. Ashton Carter, the US defense secretary, confirmed on Saturday that Obama ordered the elite troops to raid a location in eastern Syria and "capture" an Isis figure, Abu Sayyaf. Unusually, Carter said the raid also targeted the man's wife, identified as Umm Sayyaf. [I wonder what Obama and the US corporate-run media would say about a raid on US soil by Syrian special forces?]
Officials: Saudi-Led Coalition Airstrikes Resume in Yemen | 17 May 2015 | Yemeni security officials and witnesses say Saudi-led coalition airstrikes [war crimes] targeting Shiite rebels have resumed in the southern port city of Aden after the end of a five-day humanitarian ceasefire. The ceasefire expired at 11 p.m. Sunday (2000 GMT, 4 p.m. EDT), and the coalition airstrikes hit rebel positions and tanks in several neighborhoods of Aden, the officials said. Officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media, and the witnesses requested anonymity because they feared reprisals.

US killer drone strike kills at least 5 in Pakistan | 16 May 2015 | A US assassination drone strike has killed at least five people in Pakistan's northwestern tribal region near the border with Afghanistan, Pakistani security authorities said. The attack took place in the Warokey Mandi area of the Shawal district in North Waziristan, where the Pakistani military forces have been operating against Taliban and al-Qaeda[al-CIAduh]-linked militants since last June.

The protesters criticized the Japanese government, who appear to be turning a deaf ear to the locals. The protests began on Friday with about 1,200 people in Okinawa, as the island marked the 43rd anniversary of its reversion to Japanese sovereignty, and continued into Sunday gathering thousands of people.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission Opens Probe at Indian Point After Transformer Explosion, Fire | 19 May 2015 | New York state is renewing its call for tougher oversight of electrical transformers at the Indian Point Energy Center after the third failure in eight years of one of the power-transfer devices at the nuclear plant. A transformer for Indian Point's unit 3 exploded and caught fire May 9 in the nonnuclear section of the power plant 30 miles north of New York City. The state's call for more intensive inspections comes as Entergy Corp., the owner of Indian Point, seeks to renew its operating licenses for units 2 and 3 with the federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The state has opposed the renewal.
Tepco May Need to Dump Fukushima Radioactive Water Into Sea, UN Says | 15 May 2015 | Tokyo Electric Power Co. should consider discharging water contaminated radiated by the Fukushima Daiichi reactor meltdowns into the Pacific Ocean, the International Atomic Energy Agency said. More than four years after the nuclear power-plant disaster in Japan, the United Nations agency renewed pressure for an alternative to holding the tainted radioactive water in tanks and offered to help monitor for offshore radiation. Previous releases of Fukushima contamination radiation into the Pacific have drawn protests by Japanese fishermen and environmental groups.

The demonstration entered the street at 11 Avenue Southwest and Southwest Spokane Street after 7 a.m. Protesters reached Terminal 5 just before 8 a.m. Police officers were already stationed in front of the terminal when the group of activists arrived.
Trident whistleblower: nuclear 'disaster waiting to happen' | 17 May 2015 | William McNeilly's exclusive original report to WikiLeaks follows: This is document will enlighten you to the shockingly extreme conditions that our nuclear weapons system is in right now, and has been in the past. It describes different threats and events that have happened and are threats that are highly likely to happen; each one individually should raise maximum concern. I need you to publish this document or send it to someone who will; please, for the safety of the people...I strongly believe that the Prime Minister and most people that defended Trident had no idea about how dire the situation is.

The trio was ordered released by a federal appeals court on Friday. The order came after the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati last week overturned their 2013 sabotage convictions and ordered resentencing on their remaining conviction for injuring government property at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge.

The melee reportedly started in a Twin Peaks restroom and quickly spread to the bar and spilled into the parking lot, where an estimated 100 bikers with allegiances to as many as five gangs had gathered. Multiple police sources confirmed that the Bandidos and Cossacks were two of the five gangs involved.
Rand Paul to Fight Patriot Act Renewal | 19 May 2015 | Kentucky Senator Rand Paul says he'll try to stop the U.S. Senate from renewing the Patriot Act, an 'anti-terrorism' measure whose broad surveillance powers have become an issue in the 2016 presidential campaign. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, also a Kentucky Republican, will seek passage of a measure this week extending central provisions of the program, which he has called critical to preventing future terrorist attacks. Paul, who is seeking the 2016 Republican nomination for president, said there's no evidence to support that claim and that the program violates the privacy of millions of Americans by allowing the National Security Agency's bulk collection of phone records.
