How is it possible for Republicans to fund ENDLESS WARS around the Globe, fund the SURVEILLANCE NATION and UNLIMITED SPYING, support dictatorships, support the CIA as it stirs unrest and foments WARS, defend Welfare for the Wealthy and the GOP refuses to fund AMERICA?

Tuesday night's deadly Amtrak train derailment wasn't just tragic -- it was preventable.
Industry regulators say that advance speed-control technology like PTC (Positive Train Control) would have automatically prevented the train from speeding around a curve -- and saved the lives of 8 people.[1] But Republicans in Congress have gutted Amtrak's budget and even extended deadlines for meeting safety regulations.
Less than a day after Tuesday's derailment, House Republicans slashed Amtrak's budget by another 20%.[2] This isn't just infuriating -- it's negligent. That's why we're telling Congress to fully fund Amtrak and put passenger safety first.

This is austerity at its worst -- as the Republican led Congress continues to cut funding for Amtrak, more people's lives will be in danger. In a transit system that millions of people rely on everyday, passenger saftey should come first.
Amtrak CEO Joseph Boardman said that speed control technology is currently being installed but that "with more financing, we could have done it sooner."[3]
