Andrew AponickBernie Sanders for President 2016
Everyone should bookmark the link to this documentary if they can’t watch it now. The film, “Iran Is Not The Problem” provides, in my opinion, one of the best analysis available of the current situation in Iran and how it came to be.
In short, the United States covertly overthrew Iran in 1953 and privatized their oil industry so that our multinational oil companies could essentially steal their oil. During that time, Iran was given permission to develop nuclear energy technology since it was more profitable to export their oil. And, in fact, because they have so few oil refineries they end up importing most of their oil anyways. However, in 1979, the Iranian revolution re-nationalized their oil fields and kicked the multinationals out. The United States was not having it and attempted another coup under President Carter. The coup however failed. Iraq then attacked Iran in 1980 at which point we became their allies and armed them, which is how we got to know Saddam Hussein so well. After 8 years of war, and 8 years of the U.S. arming both sides, so that neither gains too much power, the war ended.
Over the course of the next 2 decades the U.S. set up more and more military bases on both sides of Iran in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
This potential war has little to do with nuclear weapons and all to do with control of oil. When you control the vast majority of the world's oil you don’t just profit from it, but you, shall we say, have the world by the balls.
As usual, this war has little to do with preventing WMD’s and maintaining peace and all to do with imperialism and conquest. Don’t let anyone fool you, Iran is not a nuclear threat, both the CIA and Mossad have confirmed it through intelligence gathering.
Please, I implore you all to watch this fillm:
