Petition: Don't shut down the government AGAIN

Like petulant children, Republicans in Washington, most of whom were are Koch Trolls, throw temper tantrums and threaten when they don't get their way because they are incapable of governing.

This isn't how you govern!

Al Franken - U.S. Senator, Minnesota

“Get ready: Experts say a government shutdown is likely”
-- The Washington Post, 9/9/2015

Two years ago, I sent you an email about a potential government shutdown. It said the following:
Shutting down the government would stop infrastructure repair projects in their tracks, close national parks, and prevent small businesses from getting loans -- costing us jobs and hurting our economy.

In short, shutting down the government would be really dumb.
Today, Republicans are at it again. They want to shut down the government unless we defund Planned Parenthood.

The idea is as dumb now as it was then. In fact it’s an even dumber idea now, since we know the last shutdown cost our economy $24 billion.

Click here and help me tell Republicans in Congress not to shut down the government.

Forcing a government shutdown is a political ‘tactic” to the right wing. It’s a means to an end -- a way to cut funding to an organization they don’t like.

But to Minnesota women and their families, Planned Parenthood isn’t just some organization. Planned Parenthood provides vital health services like reproductive care, cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, and prenatal care.

And to Minnesota families, shutting down the government isn’t just a “tactic.” It means federal workers won’t get paid, business loans won’t get approved, basic government services could shut down.

Neither of those is acceptable. Click here to tell Republicans in Congress: Don’t shut down the government. Don’t defund Planned Parenthood.

Thanks for taking a stand with me.
