Newly released American drone policy explains how US citizens, other targets can be chosen | 06 Aug 2016 | The Obama administration has released a previously secret 18-page policy guidance document [President Policy Guidance, or PPG] that lays out how potential drone targets may be chosen and approved and the President's role in the decision-making process...If the target is a US citizen or someone living in the US, or if there is not unanimous agreement among the President's key national security officials regarding the nomination of the target, it will be submitted to the President for a decision. However, the head of the nominating agency themselves can approve lethal action against a proposed individual if all of the major national security officials unanimously agree it should be undertaken, but the President has to be apprised of the decision.

Book claims CIA, state created SLA - possible psychosurgery in Vacaville | 07 Aug 2016 | The CIA and the California Department of Corrections created the Symbionese Liberation Army of the 1970s, contends a new book that also claims it's possible SLA leader Donald DeFreeze underwent psychosurgery at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville. Implementing electrodes into DeFreeze is speculation but not beyond the realm of possibility, author Brad Schreiber writes. Los Angeles resident Schreiber was interviewed Wednesday night on a national radio show about his book "Revolution’s End: The Patty Hearst Kidnapping, Mind Control and the Secret History of Donald DeFreeze and the SLA." The late Rep. Leo Ryan, who was killed in Jonestown in 1978, knew of CIA links to the medical facility in Vacaville, Schreiber said.

 

US-backed Syrian 'rebels' responsible for toxic gas attack in Aleppo - Russian military | 03 Aug 2016 | Syrian fighters from a rebel terrorist group considered 'moderate' by Washington are responsible for using toxic gas shells that killed seven and injured 23 in Aleppo on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense. "On August 2, 2016, at 19 hours 05 minutes militants from the Harakat Nour al-Din al-Zenki group, considered by Washington as 'moderate opposition', launched poisonous materials from the Sukkari district towards the eastern part of Aleppo," the ministry said. It added that the territory is under rebel control and that shells were fired towards "the residential area"of the Salah-Eddin district [aka war crime]. Moscow informed Washington of the use of toxic shells on Monday, Lieutenant-General Sergey Chvarkov, head of the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria, said.

 

Iran says nuclear scientist executed for espionage | 07 Aug 2016 | Iran has confirmed that it has executed a nuclear scientist convicted of leaking the country's top secret information to the United States, the Iranian Judiciary says. Iran's Judiciary spokesman, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, told reporters on Sunday that Shahram Amiri had access to the country's top secret information and had linked up with the Islamic Republic's arch-enemy, the US. Amiri, who was a university lecturer, disappeared in Saudi Arabia in June 2009 and resurfaced a year later in the US. He returned home in July 2010 after spending 14 months in the United States.

 

ISIS claims to have captured trove of U.S. military gear | 07 Aug 2016 | ISIS [I-CIA-SIS] fighters in Afghanistan claimed to have recently seized a trove of sensitive U.S. military equipment - including communications gear, a rocket launcher and the ID card of a U.S. soldier - but it remains unclear how the items came into the terror group's possession. There was no immediate information on when the pictures, posted to social media on Saturday, were taken, though the U.S. soldier's ID expires in 2017, a possible sign the photos are relatively fresh. The American soldier whose identification was pictured, U.S. Army Specialist Ryan Jay Larson, was not captured by ISIS, Brigadier General Charlie Cleveland told Fox News on Sunday.

 

Australian academic and US colleague abducted at gunpoint in Kabul | 08 Aug 2016 | An Australian professor and his US colleague have been kidnapped at gunpoint from outside a university in Kabul, local police said. The professors from the American University of Afghanistan were abducted on Sunday, reportedly by gunmen dressed in the uniforms of Afghan security forces. The university is the country's only private, not-for-profit and co-educational university and teaches more than 1700 students, according to its website.

 

Suicide bomber kills at least 70 at Pakistan hospital, ISIS claims responsibility | 08 Aug 2016 | A suicide bomber in Pakistan killed at least 70 people and wounded more than 100 on Monday in an attack on mourners gathered at a hospital in the southwestern city of Quetta, and Islamic State claimed responsibility. The bomber struck as a crowd of mostly lawyers and journalists crammed into the emergency department to accompany the body of a prominent lawyer who had been shot and killed in the city earlier in the day, Faridullah, a reporter who was among the wounded, told Reuters. Abdul Rehman Miankhel, a senior official at the government-run Civil Hospital, where the explosion occurred, told reporters that at least 70 people had been killed, with more than 112 wounded.

 

Hospital Bombing in Pakistani City of Quetta Kills at Least 54 | 08 Aug 2016 | At least 54 people were killed on Monday in the restive Pakistani city of Quetta when an explosion, apparently caused by a suicide bomber, struck a hospital where dozens of lawyers had gathered to condemn the killing of a prominent colleague. Officials in the southwestern city said that at least 50 people were wounded, most of them critically, and that the death toll was likely to rise.

 

Two Benghazi Parents Sue Hillary Clinton for Wrongful Death, Defamation | 08 Aug 2016 | The parents of two Americans killed in the 2012 terrorist attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities in Benghazi, Libya, filed a wrongful death lawsuit in federal court Monday against Hillary Clinton. In the suit, Patricia Smith and Charles Woods, the parents of Sean Smith and Tyrone Woods, claim that Clinton's use of a private e-mail server contributed to the attacks. They also accuse her of defaming them in public statements. Smith was an information management officer and Woods was a security officer, both stationed in Benghazi.

 

Terrorism wave in Germany forces Berlin to plan broad range of civil defense measures --Bild quotes paper: In case of an attack (nuclear, biological or chemical) hospitals are planned to be used as 'decontamination sites' | 04 Aug 2016 | Against the backdrop of terrorist attacks that rocked Europe - and Germany in particular - in recent months, the German government is set on updating the system of national civil defense for the first time in some 20 years, Bild reported on Thursday. Citing excerpts from the 69-page draft version of the new document which is expected to be adopted by ministers on August 24, the newspaper reports the proposed changes cover a variety of spheres, from increasing vaccine and basic supplies storage to stocking up on chemical protective suits to be distributed among the population in case of emergency. All German municipalities will be ordered to dig special water-wells to provide a minimum supply of drinking water for their citizens for at least two weeks, as well as purchase chlorine tablets for disinfection and organize water distribution across their land.

 

ISIS claims responsibility for machete attack on two Belgian policewomen by Algerian who shouted 'Allahu Akbar' before being shot dead by officers | 07 Aug 2016 | ISIS has claimed responsibility for a machete attack on two Belgian policewomen carried out by an Algerian who shouted 'Allahu Akbar' before being shot dead by officers. The 33-year-old went on the rampage with a knife outside a police station in Charleroi, south of Brussels yesterday, before he was shot by a third officer. Today, he was identified by authorities as K.B. who has lived in Belgium since 2012 and has a criminal record. The announcement came as ISIS claimed one of its 'soldiers' carried out the savage attack.

 

Belgium police machete attack: Knifeman dead after attacking two officers as he yelled 'Allahu Akbar'| 08 Aug 2016 | A man who shouted "Allahu Akbar" as he attacked two Belgian officers with a machete has died after being shot by police. The female officers were attacked with a blade just before 4pm local time outside a police station in the city of Charleroi. The knifeman, who pulled out the machete from a sports bag as he arrived at a security checkpoint outside the city's police headquarters, was shot by a third officer.

 

Rome tightens security at Colosseum as Isil threatens to attack Italy | 03 Aug 2016 | Italy will install a high security cordon around the Colosseum in Rome amid rising fears of a terrorist attack during the summer tourist season. Nicolo D'Angelo, the Rome police chief, has ordered a series of measures, including new entrance controls at the Colosseum, guarded by his officers. Security perimeters around the Vatican museums and St Peter's Square are also being extended. The tighter security comes after the emergence of a new 35-minute video from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) [I-CIA-SIS],repeating a specific threat to "conquer Rome".

 

Zika Mosquitoes Same as GM Mosquitoes Released Off the Coast of Florida | 01 Aug 2016 | In December 2011, I [Brandon Turbeville] wrote an article entitled "Releasing Genetically Engineered Mosquitoes Poses Unknown Risks to Florida" where I documented the Oxitec plans to release 5-10,000 GM mosquitoes near the Florida Keys. This program was presented to the public under the guise of an attempt to eradicate Dengue fever and is still awaiting approval from regulatory agencies despite widespread opposition from the public. So if it is true that there is a link between the GM mosquitoes and Zika virus, then Florida may soon be covered in ticking time bombs over its swamps, waiting to provide us with yet another public health emergency...Dengue fever has been of particular interest to the United States government, US Army, and CIA since at least the middle part of the 20th century. There is a great deal of evidence suggesting that the biochemical research facilities at Fort Detrick were conducting tests on Dengue fever as a bio-weapon as far back as 1942. It is generally known that in the 1950s the CIA partnered with Ft. Detrick to study Dengue fever and other exotic diseases for use as biological weapons.

 

Deceased FBI Agent Found at Trump Tower With Silenced Pistol | 02 Aug 2016 | A source within the NYPD has reported that an armed 62-year-old man tried to sneak in to the Trump Tower late Tuesday night. Interestingly, the suspect who was found with a semi-automatic handgun fitted with a silencer has been identified as Barry Lee Bush, a former Newark, New Jersey, FBI agent who has been dead since 2007. A Secret Service agent discovered Bush after he had circumvented a security partition on the bottom floor of the Trump Tower. Questioned by Secret Service at the scene, Bush who initially identified himself as Barry Franklyn, remained silent offering no explanation for why he broke security at the Trump Tower. According to the NYPD source, Bush was arrested for trespassing and for illegally carrying a pistol fitted with an illegal silencer. During his booking at the NYPD Jail, Bush's fingerprints were submitted to the National Crime Information Center, which immediately reported Bush's true identity...According to a spokesman at the Newark FBI field office, Bush was killed in the line of duty in April of 2007.

 

NBC News reporter compares Donald Trump to woman-beater | 04 Aug 2016 | NBC reporter [sic] Katy Tur believes she has the perfect analogy for Donald Trump's relationship with the Republican party: Trump's an abuser and the party is the partner in denial. "I asked another (anonymous) party official about this today," Tur reported Wednesday. "I likened it to an abusive relationship basically. A girlfriend who keeps saying that despite the abuse her boyfriend is giving her - the attacks - that he's going to change. He really loves her and promises her this time it's going to be different. The RNC realizes this. They see that Donald Trump has promised that he would change and would pivot before and he hasn't done it. Their issue is that they just can't walk away," Tur said.

 

Clinton mistakenly refers to Trump as her 'husband' | 05 Aug 2016 | Hillary Clinton nearly called rival Donald Trump her "husband" on Friday in an embarrassing slip-up that drew laughs from the crowd and Twitterverse. The flub came as she addressed the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists in Washington, DC. "I hope you will compare what I'm proposing to what my husb--... my opponent is talking about," Clinton said, urging the reporters to scrutinize Trump more closely. The correction, swift as it was, didn't go unnoticed. Audible laughs could be heard in the auditorium as Clinton came close to calling Trump her spouse.

 

Texas professors ask U.S. court to ban guns in their classrooms | 04 Aug 2016 | Three University of Texas professors asked a U.S. judge on Thursday to give them the option of barring students from bringing guns into their classroom after the state gave some students that right under a law then went into effect this week. The professors said academic freedom could be chilled under the so-called campus carry law backed by the state's Republican political leaders that allows concealed handgun license holders 21 and over to bring handguns into classrooms and other university facilities...Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican and a defendant in the suit, filed papers to halt the injunction, calling the professors' case a "frivolous lawsuit."

 

Chicago police may have violated policy in fatal shooting - official | 06 Aug 2016 | Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said on Saturday that videos of the police shooting of a black man in the city last month indicate three officers may have violated the department's policies. Johnson told a news conference it was against departmental policy to fire at or into a moving car when the vehicle was the only potential use of force by a suspect, and police were taking a hard look at training and tactics following the shooting. Authorities on Friday released videos that captured the moments before and after police shot Paul O'Neal, 18, on July 28, but not the shooting itself because a police officer's body camera was not recording.

 

North Carolina to seek Supreme Court stay of voter ID law | 06 Aug 2016 | North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory (R) said his state will petition the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene and reinstate a voter identification law that was struck down by the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, which said the law discriminated against minorities. After overturning the North Carolina law, which requires voters to show a form of state-issued photo identification before voting and also cuts down on the amount of time allowed for early voting, the Fourth Circuit also refused to stay its order pending an appeal to the Supreme Court. McCrory said the appeals court changing election law only months before the 2016 election will cause confusion.

 

Appeals court rejects NC's request to postpone voter ID decision | 04 Aug 2016 | An appeals court has quickly decided it won't delay enforcement of its ruling striking down North Carolina's photo identification requirement and other election restrictions, including reducing early in-person voting by seven days. The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied the stay Thursday, one day after state leaders' attorneys requested that last week's ruling be set aside as they prepare to ask the U.S. Supreme Court to consider the case...Last week's injunction means no voter ID mandate and 17 days of early voting with same-day registration.

 

Italian police cook pasta for lonely elderly couple after neighbours heard them crying | 08 Aug 2016 | Kindly police officers came to the aid of an elderly Italian couple after neighbours called emergency services when they were heard crying in their apartment - because they were so lonely. Officers rushed to the flat in the Appio area of Rome after nearby residents heard shouting and crying coming from inside, and found and 84-year-old Jole, and her 94-year-old husband Michele. The couple said they had not been victims of crime, but were overcome by emotion after watching sad stories on the news.
