The unemployment rate

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress

Our economy is broken.
According to a new study, 44% of US workers are employed in low-wage jobs, living on a median $18,000 annual salary.
The fruits of a prosperous economy aren’t going to the working-class. The vast majority of new wealth is going right back to the billionaire class, leaving the rest of us to fight over the scraps.
There’s no doubt that Donald Trump will tout the low unemployment rate as a reason why “the economy is strong.” But those numbers don’t tell the full story.
Is the economy really “good” if people can’t afford to feed their families? If people are being forced from their neighborhoods because their rent is increasing at an unsustainable rate? If they have zero dollars in savings because their student loan interest payments are crippling? If they’re hit with a $100,000 hospital bill because they can’t afford health insurance?
In solidarity,
