M. Victor Sylvia, known for local activism, speeches at town meeting, and simple homespun words to selectmen during their weekly meetings, died in his sleep Saturday morning. He was 78. Enterprise
Sylvia is credited with helping make Middleboro a better place to live.

M. Victor Sylvia, known for local activism, speeches at town meeting, and simple homespun words to selectmen during their weekly meetings, died in his sleep Saturday morning. He was 78. Enterprise

Vic was one of those rare individuals with whom one could disagree and joke about the differences of opinion.
.
He willingly shared his extensive knowledge of town history, hazardous waste sites and ALS clusters. Without his dogged determination, it is doubtful the ALS registry would have come into existence. And he always reminded 'I'm not going to be around forever.' The attention that was focused on ALS in Middleboro will stand as part of his legacy to the Town.

And without his devoted partner, it would never have happened.
