Middleboro BOS: Misplaced Indignation #5

If the failure of the BOS to provide adequate explanations that explain or defend their conduct, attendance at social functions for an organization that will appear before the Board for future dealings, the personal communications, receiving gifts and assorted issues, has left you wondering, you might consider filing an inquiry with the appropriate agencies to sort out.
.
This isn't a "he said" "she said" sort of thing.
.
Records exist. Questions remain unanswered.
.
After 2 years of diverting attention to the pot of gold at the end of the casino that will never arrive, suddenly this Board wants to focus on budget issues?
.
Try filing your inquiry with the following --
.
Office of Attorney General
Martha Coakley
One Ashburton Place
Boston, MA 02108

.
Office of the Attorney General
U.S. Department of Justice
950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20530-0001

.
Secretary of the Department of the Interior
Department of the Interior
1849 C Street, N.W.
Washington DC 20240

.
Bureau of Indian Affairs
Department of the Interior
1849 C Street, NW
Washington, D.C. 20240
.
Massachusetts Ethics Commission
One Ashburton Place
John W. McCormack Building
Room 619 Boston, MA 02108
.
Board of Bar Overseers
99 High Street
Boston, Massachusetts 02110
.
A regular poster made the following comment that made me wonder:

One word of advice for Muriel Duphily.
.
She's too naive to understand the consequences of her actions. Mimi, the State Ethics Commision is not made up of your friends in the Tribe, or Casino-friends, or Middleboro Friends.
.
Do yourself a favor and step down from the BOS before you get yourself in any more trouble. You are in over your head. I think basically you may be a nice woman and I'd hate to see you doing time in prison.
.
For your own sake and the sake of Middleboro, step down from the BOS.
.
Why should you be the fall guy for casino proponents?

You can't spell Muriel without "LIE"

It sounds like both Mimi and Helen Belmont are in over their heads. Helen stands to profit from land she owns.

Smoking Owl is right. This poor lady is going to be fined and be mad at the person who complained instead of herself. She doesn't have a clue.

They believed Fearsome when he said 18 months. Too bad for the Town. All they saw was $7 million and postponed making decisions or running the town. What a mess!

What Mimi did she must have thought was right out of ignorance. She can't depend on Helen Belmont for legal advice. It sounds like Helen may have her own problems if she's that cozy with Graham.

In my experience, Ethics complaints are handled expeditiously. I sent my first letter when the matter of Mimi participating in fire department matters was first raised. To date, I have heard nothing.
What I wonder is if the feds are already investigating the town, ethics violations, personal conversations and other illegalities and Ethics is just small stuff.
We won't know until indictments become public, but it seems we have elected a Board of Fools.

When the dust clears, they all have problems. Pat Rogers sat there silently when this stuff went on around him. April is a good time to begin changes. Mimi will be forced to resign when she finds out what the fines will be. There are qualified candidates willing to run who wouldn't serve with this current board. Can't blame them!

It's only a matter of time before Mrs. Duphily does something that will get the town into a lawsuit.

Didn't we go throght this a few years ago when Wiksten claimed he had to resign because of ethics? Conflict between being a fire fighter and a selectman? How many years did it take him to look into this and resign? I don't recall him ever being fined. Mimi will just plead insanity or ta ta. Which she really is both.

Our letters have been sent asking for a determination of whether laws were broken. I hope others will send letters as well. Selectmen fraternizing at social events, accepting cheap gifts and thinking this was ok? A quorum of selectmen was present at these events. As a town, we need to expect better. This is like Romper Room. Qualified candidates won't run because this is so childish and unprofessional.

Mimi made a comment about being small town. Smoking Owl is right. She's in over her head and has no idea what she's doing.
She needs to consult with her personal attorney about her conduct. She will loose big time if she doesn't resign.
I wonder if it was Helen who talked her into running.
