Republicans Abandon Veterans AGAIN!

"A Department of Agriculture report last year showed that more than 5,000 of the 48 million Americans receiving Supplementary Nutritional Assistance Program (food stamps) listed their employment status as 'active duty military,' the Pentagon officials said." - Military.com

Two months ago, you stood with Senator Gillibrand and VoteVets against Republican attempts to cut the food stamp program for veterans.

But just last week, the House passed a Farm Bill that completely eliminated food assistance, putting 5,000 active duty members of the military and their families in grave danger.

The Chairman of the Agriculture Committee, Republican Frank Lucas from Oklahoma, promised that they'd sort out food assistance "as soon as I can achieve consensus."

Counting on this Congress to get back to assistance later is just not good enough.

Call your House Member at (202) 224-3121 and demand that the 5,000 active duty members of the military who receive food stamps will continue to receive them after the Farm Bill comes out of its eventual conference committee.

When you're done with your call, let us know how it went. You can do that here:

After you've shared that message, tell them it's outrageous that any member of the military should need food stamps for their families and that service members should be paid a living wage. Call (202) 224-3121 right now.

Thanks for standing up for these families.

All the best,
