Save A Life!

Angels for Animals Network shared Frederick Wright's photo.
To say this to most of you is preaching to the choir. But please share with your "friends" who brag proudly about where they "bought" their puppy.

Most animals in shelters will be euthanized. Most of them were someone's pet, a family member, simply dumped or abandoned, many left at High Kill Shelters. By the time you read this, many will have been euthanized.

If you're considering a furry family members, please consider shelters and rescues first.

Adoption and transportation information available on links or here:

For more information on adopting please read the following: http://urgentpetsondeathrow.org/must-read/

DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

For more information on a particular dog, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions.

A Volunteer writes: Adorable Amber - that is all me. I am such a cute girl and I have no idea why I am stuck here at a shelter. I am really a fun playful girl who loves human attention. I would do just about anything for a treat. I like to play with other dogs, sometimes I can be a little rowdy, but it is just because I like to have fun. I also really like to hang out with the volunteers. They are all so nice and make sure I get some fresh air and exercise. They keep telling me it won't take long for me to find a good home. I guess I have a great personality, good looks and I am all about fun. I think I have good chance of finding a home soon, but you shouldn't wait, come see me now. I really want to meet you! Amber arrived at the shelter on June 10th. She is 2 yrs old, about 50lbs and was picked up as a stray.

Pet Pardons

This sweet little boy is in need of Adoption or Rescue at the Wake County Animal Center in Raleigh, NC. Ned (ID #92935) is a Maltese weighing in at a tiny 5 lbs. This breed is hypoallergenic and non-shedding, and they make wonderful lapdogs. Ned would be an excellent companion for anyone looking for a small dog to snuggle with and spoil. Will you be his forever family? This adorable pup is thought to be around 10 yrs old and still has plenty of love to give. These dogs live for a long time and he wants to spend his senior years in a comfortable home with people who appreciate how special he is.

On a personal note, I adopted a 10-14 year old Maltese mix from this shelter and it is undoubtedly the BEST thing I have ever done. I was NOT planning to adopt another dog, let alone a senior, but one thing led to another and I am so thankful it did. He has been the greatest blessing to me and is my little sunshine. He has transformed both physically and... behaviorally, and watching him thrive in a loving environment has been the most heartwarming, incredible journey. He is so grateful and loving, always wagging his tail and making me laugh with his goofball antics. Adopting a senior is an incredibly rewarding experience- I hope you choose to find out for yourself and that you will consider adopting Ned or another amazing dog or cat in his/her golden years!

The Wake County Animal Center is located at:
820 Beacon Lake Road,
Raleigh, NC 27610

Out-of-Town, Out-of-State, Long-Distance Adoptions from the Wake County Shelter:
The shelter simply doesn’t have the staff to work with adopters who do not personally come into the Shelter to adopt. WCAC will adopt to out-of-state individuals who can come to the Shelter. It’s in the animals best interest if the adopter meets the dog or cat in person before adopting. If there is no way for you to come to WCAC, another option is for you to find a rescue group that would be able to pull the animal of your choice and you may either adopt or foster to adopt the pet of your choice through this rescue.

Urgent!

So very sad. This sweet mama recently gave birth, her pups were taken from her and she was dumped in a high kill shelter. Please share to save her life. Lancaster shelter, CA. Phone: 661 940 4191

Animal ID: A4627588

I don't have a name yet and I'm an approximately 2 year old female pit bull. I am not yet spayed. I have been at the Lancaster Animal Care Center since September 3, 2013. I will be available on September 8, 2013. You can visit me at my temporary home at L202.

This is priceless!
Does anyone remember IHop, the little senior Maltese found at an IHop restaurant in downtown Raleigh, NC last year? At appx. 10-14 yrs old, he was brought into the local government run shelter matted & skinny with severe neurological issues & structural damage due to possible trauma. He was unable to take more than a few steps; he would rear up on his hind legs and fall over. We posted him on here and thankfully, he was rescued by one of this page's admins (who renamed him Pancake). Check out the cute video at the link below to see his progress!! Guaranteed to put a smile on your face
