Is the "Clinton Cash" author working for the Koch brothers?

Last summer I broke several hours of audio in a series of stories on the Koch brothers’ biannual political strategy retreat for millionaire and billionaire donors. Last week, I published a new story on a previously unreleased portion of audio from “Clinton Cash” author Peter Schweizer, who claims to be non-partisan in the allegations made in his new book. The audio, however, proves otherwise. Schweizer urged donors not to let up on the left, rallying them ahead of the last fundraising pitch of the retreat. And Schweizer’s own outfit, the Government Accountability Institute has received millions of dollars from Koch-funded organizations. Through a PR representative, Schweizer pointed to his forthcoming book on Jeb Bush as evidence of his lack of partisanship. Now, the Koch brothers have not explicitly endorsed a presidential candidate, but media speculation rests with Scott Walker as their choice. Given that Schweizer is going after both Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush, the pertinent question is not whether he is partisan, but whom is he working for? Right now, you might be saying, “Good, Clinton and Bush should be investigated!” And we agree that every presidential candidate should be properly vetted. But Schweizer has admitted that he has no direct evidence of wrongdoing, and, according to BuzzFeed and Talking Points Memo, he has made false allegations in this book and others. We urge you to consider the source of this information and how the author and his funders might stand to benefit from making trumped up charges.
