Muckraking Journalism in the Public Interest

Muckraking Journalism in the Public Interest

“Powerful.... A horror film of the most
realistic kind. Peabody’s documentary
examines the ways in which corporate
interests increasingly control society. The
film certainly doesn’t pull its punches.”
The Hollywood Reporter
Where other mainstream news sources fail,
Matt Taibbi madly embraces his role as
an honest political observer/writer/citizen
in a democracy. ”
Janeane Garofalo

Dear FAIR Supporter,
Every day someone new makes a decision to become more engaged, outraged and dedicated to the fight for the truthful information that democracy needs.
During this long election cycle, we see corporate media at their very worst. TV networks rake in millions of dollars from campaign commercials, then offer feeble “factchecks” about the falsehoods of the ads.
Meanwhile, we need you to help get out the next FAIR study. To send CounterSpin out to the many independent stations that love the show, but can’t afford to pay for it. To make sure that our activists have the information they need to raise hell when Big Media distort the news.
To encourage your support, FAIR is offering you two thank-you gifts. The first is the documentary film The Corporate Coup d’État, directed by Fred Peabody and co-produced by FAIR founder Jeff Cohen.
Follow independent journalists, including Chris Hedges, Phillip Martin, Sarah Jaffe, Matt Taibbi and Lee Fang, as they expose government and corporate deception, and show how our democracy first began selling its soul to big corporations, which opened the door for lobbyists and business-friendly politicians to take control in Washington and undermine the will of the people.
The second thank-you gift is journalist Matt Taibbi’s new book, Hate Inc.: Why Today’s Media Makes Us Despise One Another, an insider’s guide to the variety of ways today’s corporate media cherry-pick facts and tell us lies. Taibbi, who has spent much of his career covering elections, provides a rich survey of American political journalism’s dirty tricks. Heading into the 2020 election season, Hate Inc. will be an invaluable antidote to what is dished up as news.
Please consider one or both gifts to share with family and friends. For a donation of $35 or more, receive one gift; for $60 or above receive both gifts. Each and every donation is appreciated. Please donate today!
Sincerely, Deborah, Jim & Janine
P.S. The Corporate Coup d’État is a 90-minute DVD. Hate Inc. is a 304-page paperback.
