Lynda’s Story
Summary of Lynda’s Story here.
On June 10, 2010 Lynda was driving her 2008 Prius on the highway, the vehicle lunged and continued accelerating to 70 mph. Even with a hard brake, she could not slow the vehicle down below 45 mph. Fearing she was going to crash, she drove into a drainage ditch and struck 3 culverts before coming to rest. Smoke was billowing out from under both front wheel wells. A trucker behind her used a fire extinguisher on the wheels. Lynda was shaken and bruised. Toyota claimed there was no evidence of a design defect to cause the accident.

Toyota recalls 4 million vehicles amid unintended acceleration problems
Uploaded on Dec 3, 2009
Last month, Toyota issued a massive recall of nearly 4 million Toyota and Lexis vehicles. The recall is intended to fix a very dangerous defect which can lead to Unintended Acceleration of the vehicle. Initially thought to be an issue with floor mats, the real problem involves the cars electronic throttle system. The recall was prompted by a high speed crash in August in California of a Lexus barreling out of control. As the vehicle hit speeds exceeding 120 mph, family members made a frantic 911 call and said the accelerator was stuck and they couldnt stop the vehicle.
