Consider Adoption

Adoption and Transportation information available on links.

If you're considering adding a furry member to your family, please consider shelters and rescues first. Most animals in shelter will be euthanized, frequently by gassing. Most of the animals pictured here will be euthanized.

Please support Spay and Neuter programs to end this tragedy.

To rescue a Death Row Cat, please read this:

THIS IS SAD MOLLY -SPENT MOST OF HER LIFE IN A CAGE !!!
SHES ON LONG ISLAND AND NEEDS A HOME BAD !!!
She sits and waits everyday wondering what she did wrong !!...!
*******************************************
This beautiful girl has spent almost half her life in the shelter.
She came in as a stray three years ago and everyone who meets Molly loves her. When I would go to walk Molly she would just melt into you she just didn't want you to stop petting her. It was so sad when she had to go back in because she would stop in her tracks and give you those eyes. She would do everything to avoid going back to her kennel. Molly deservers a home she has been through a lot and wants to live out the rest of her life with someone who will love her. If she could talk Molly would say why doesn't anyone want me. What's wrong with me. She is the most gentle loving dog I have ever meet. Molly is now with Hounds Town USA in Farmingdale NY still waiting and wondering why has nobody come to take me home. Molly my sweet girl someone is out there for you just keep your head up.Contact FFOLI at 516-719-0808 or Lynda at 516-221-6785 516-313-8262

(͡๏̯͡๏) SALLY, hurt & scared, looking for a home!
( , ,)✫
´¯**´¯`✫ Limping on her right hind leg, infested with fleas, frightened out of her mind and having endured God knows what, Sally came into Brooklyn ACC on 7/6…friendly as can be and allowing all handling and petting. What could have happened to make this lovely two year-old so relieved to be in the ACC that she was actually glad to be there is unimaginable but into the ACC she went and she’s been there ever since waiting for someone to notice how special she is. Sally is such a wonderful girl -- so friendly and people-oriented that she scored a coveted AVERAGE RATING which allows her to be adopted through the ACC directly as well as through New Hope rescues. That's the good news because tonight, Sally needs a hero. Her young life depends on someone coming to her rescue and taking her home tomorrow and it cannot wait another moment. Will it be you? Will you be the one to save her life? A home is what she needs and it is what she absolutely must have by Saturday morning. Share Sally over and over and if you have the space in your home and the room in your heart to make a difference then do the right thing and save a life – adopt Sally NOW! Click on her pic to join her thread, ask for help if you need it; but please hurry! ~

*** TO ADOPT THIS ANIMAL THROUGH THE PUBLIC ADOPTION SITE, PLEASE GO TO THE FOLLOWING LINK AND SCROLL DOWN TO BOTTOM TO LOG IN AND RESERVE THE ANIMAL. THERE WILL BE A $50 DEPOSIT REQUIRED.http://www.nycacc.org/PublicAtRisk.htm ***

For more information on adopting please read the following: http://urgentpetsondeathrow.org/must-read/

DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

For more information on a particular dog, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions.
