350.org shared 350.org Australia's photo.
Meet Raymond, a 75-year-old Australian man who risked arrest by chaining himself to an old car to block machinery from entering the site of Whitehaven Coal's controversial Maules Creek coal project.
He's one of the 100 people who took action today to stop Whitehaven's plans to build a massive open-cut mine smack in the middle of the Leard State Forest.
Raymond had never taken part in this kind of activity before -- but today, he took a stand for the climate to stop destruction of Leard Forest by big coal.

This is Raymond. He is 75. He is one of 100 people blocking work on the controversial Maules Creek coal mine in NSW's Leard State Forest. The mine will produce ...annual greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to New Zealand, dump thousands of tonnes of coal dust onto neighbouring communities and destroy the Leard State Forest.
