AS THE ARCTIC MELTS, POLAR BEARS LIVE ON THINNING, OR NO, ICE
Photographer and TED Senior Fellow Camille Seaman has been photographing the Arctic and Antarctica for more than ten years - and inadvertently documented the effects of climate change. Her stunningly beautiful photos of icebergs portray these massive piles of snowflakes as complex individuals with a history of thousands of years in the making and deaths that range from quiet melting away to violent disintegration.

At her recent talk and interview at the World Affairs Council Seaman told about her Native American upbringing, her journey into photography, and the stories behind her images of icebergs and polar bears. Witnessing how starving polar bears scramble for food and ravage migratory birds' nests left her with a sense of extreme urgency that life in the Arctic needs our serious attention and help.
