Make a Difference!

Most animals in shelters will be euthanized. Most of them were someone's pet, a well-loved family member.

By the time you read this, many will have been euthanized.

If you're considering a furry family members, please consider shelters and rescues first.

Adoption and transportation information available on links.

Please support Spay & Neuter programs to reduce this tragedy.
Check back during the day.

One year old Rocky and his 2 year old housemate, MIAH - A0972874, were surrendered to Brooklyn ACC because of NYCHA pit bull bans. Needless to say Rocky doesn’t know why he’s not allowed and he’s wondering where his home is, where his buddy Miah is, and why he can’t go back to the life he knew. He was friendly during his medical and though in reasonable health, he does seem to need a little TLC. His long nails speaks to not having been outside playing too much. He’s got some skin issues and some ear and eye inflamations. Might be allergies or it might be something more—he’ll need to be seen by a good vet. Rocky’s a real good boy who enjoyed the petting that comes with the exam. At 1 year, he’s just a big baby who maybe hasn’t had much of a chance to be a baby. But if ACC has its way, Rocky will be euthanized tomorrow before he even has a chance to be that baby! No doubt Rocky would love to find a new home with Miah but tonight, he’s the priority. Rocky’s a perfect big pup for someone who doesn’t want to go through all those baby puppy things but wants a young dog to grow up with their family, a young dog who will just be thrilled with experiencing all the new adventures in his life, a young dog who will run and play and then fall out on your living room floor for belly rubs! Are you that someone? If you think you are, speak up right now to foster or adopt Rocky—his life depends on it!

DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

For more information on a particular dog, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go unnoticed. Pets on Death Row - Urgent Death Row Cats added 4 photos from July 27, 2011 to the album SUPER URGENTS- NEED OUT NOW!!
RHYTHM is a 6-year-old cat with riveting eyes and a past shrouded in mystery, and the ACC has done nothing at all to help her move ahead with her life. Which is a shame, because this beautiful cat is clearly a wise old soul who will make the perfect companion for someone, if only she can find them in time. RHYTHM looks like she was a family pet all her life until someone got tired of having a pet, and threw her away like trash. RHYTHM may be many things, but she certainly is not trash. RHYTHM is loyal, intuitive, and intelligent, and for the right person? RHYTHM will rock their world. RHYTHM does carry a New Hope rating because the shelter experience freaks her out. That's no reason to die tomorrow morning, held down on a cold metal table. Please help RHYTHM find her future tonight.

This girl has been used as a breeder dog for TWELVE years. She is currently in AC awaiting death, she is "used up" & no longer an asset to the losers she trust...ed to care for her. Can anyone register in their mind a dog that is probably 2 to 4 years away from dying a natural death dying in a kill shelter without knowing what it is like to have a happy, loving home...ever? There is no background on her other than being sweet...nothing about kids or other pets, it's a shelter, so don't ask. I'll get her if I can find foster. PitHappensRescue@gmail.com. SHARE TO SAVE MALIBU

Malibu was was picked up as a stray and she was immediately taken to the vet who diagnosed her with a broken pelvis and then placed in isolation for the stray hold. She received no treatment or medication for almost a week. Valhalla Rescue jumped in and rescued Malibu. It was only then discovered that she didn't have a broken pelvis, but 2 BROKEN REAR LEGS. They believe that she might have been abused, since she does not show injuries consistent with being hit by a car. She underwent surgery to insert pins into the worst leg and the other one thankfully was able to just be set and splinted. Her surgery took several hours will likely undergo several more surgeries and procedures. So far her bill is $2000 and rising.

Raleigh, NC- Meet Zoey and Sinjay, two very sweet senior girls who were surrendered to the shelter because they were digging holes in their owners backyard plus their owners decided to build a deck and thought these girls were in going to be in the way. The worst part is that these owners have had these girls their entire lives. Sinjay the black and tan is 12 and Zoey is 11. Both girls are spayed and good with other dogs. They have lived together their whole lives so they are very bonded. Zoey is especially bonded to Sinjay and she looks for her if they are separated even for a few minutes. These girls walk well on a leash and appear to be in really great condition plus they have plenty of life left in them. Their owner kept them outside but also indicated they have been crate trained. When shelter volunteers walk them they go potty as soon as they are taken out. Please SHARE these girls so they can find a home together. Since they are already spayed their adoption fee is $90 for both or $45 for each of them.

These girls are currently located at the Wake County Animal Center in Raleigh NC.
