Save A Life!

Most animals in shelters will be euthanized. Most of them were someone's pet, a family member.

By the time you read this, many will have been euthanized.

If you're considering a furry family members, please consider shelters and rescues first.

Adoption and transportation information available on links.

Please support Spay & Neuter programs to reduce this tragedy.

Check back during the day. Will add as posts appear.

We really need your help again! PLEASE SHARE Colleen, the family dog stolen the day of her owners funeral. we need to get her back to her heartbroken family! Please please share!
***UPDATED INFO ON STOLEN DOG COLLEEN! PLEASE SHARE ON YOUR PAGE AND PROFILES! LET'S GET COLLEEN VIRAL!!!!! FOR EVERYONE WHO SHARES THIS, HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUS...ANDS, WILL SEE HER!
We are extending her search nationwide and especially the east coast of the US for the loved family dog who was stolen the day of her owners funeral! We DESPERATELY need Colleen to go VIRAL! Please share with ALL rescues you know of as well! The rescue that advertised her for adoption or foster the day before she as stolen has said she received Colleens information in a mass text sent to several rescues from another rescue. Unfortunately, she is refusing to tell the searchers which rescue gave the information or the other rescuers who also received the information. Sadly, when the Rescue we know of was asked questions, they deleted all Colleen's posts so any useful information that may have been on those threads are gone. If you know of any NYC Long Island oR ANY rescues, please ask if they received the text for Colleen on 7/24 or 7/25. We need to get this information to investigators.***
Colleen, a 2 year old female German Shepherd, was stolen from a home in Queens in the early hours of July 26, 2013 which just happened to be the day of her owners funeral. Nice, huh? She was last seen wearing a brown leather collar with a 2012 rabies tag and a green collar with flowers on it. We have every reason to believe that the collars are been thrown away. She is also not spayed, so if you can please help share this on pages for veterinarians, breeders or email, it would be a huge help!
Colleen may have been adopted out or is being fostered through a Long Island rescue. We are very afraid that she may have fallen into the hands of breeders due to her pedigree!!!!The people or rescue who have her may not even know she is stolen. The police have been notified but we still need your help. Places of interest are Rockville Centre and Woodmere New York. However, since a rescue is possibly involved, she could be anywhere in New York, New Jersey or Connecticut and beyond. If you have seen her advertised on Facebook/Twitter etc or know of anyone who recently adopted or is fostering a dog like her, Please contact Dawn @ 917-915-5986. ANY and ALL info is needed.

FROM MOM:
Before Cassie, I was afraid to adopt a senior animal because I was selfish and I thought that we could "cheat death" by adopting a younger pet. Lucia's Mom is too kind with her wording. She shouldn't hate to say it because her words are true for me. I was selfish. I wanted more time.

None of us has any guarantees for tomorrow or even later today. I'm glad my eyes were opened thanks to Cassie - I owe my girl big time. I am now the proud owner of a senior pet and a terminally ill pet. I would not trade her for anything. She is my girl and I am her Mom. Happy Sunday everyone!
I struggled with how to start this post. It's something I've wanted to say for a while but have held back.
I've heard over and over that many people feel they ...could never doing what I'm doing. They exclaim that adopting a senior pet or a terminally ill animal would hurt too much. I hate to put it this way, but isn't that a little selfish? YOU can't handle that pain...so the animal has to either sit in a shelter longer or worse, die? All because you don't want to be sad? You don't want to feel pain? That pain won't kill you but you giving into it could cause an animal to run out of time.
I hope I don't offend anyone by this post. I just have to be honest.
If you can't adopt because of financial issues or space issues I totally understand. But please don't let it be because you're scared of death. The love and companionship I have experienced with this amazing girl is worth ANY heartache.

super sweet. please click on pic and read description.
Hi Facebook Friends,

On Friday my Husband and I were on our lunch break from work and we noticed 2 Pit Bulls that were wandering lost and aimless in traffic a...t a busy intersection. Immediately, fearing for their lives I jumped out of the car at the stop light, got low to the ground and called them to me. Thankfully, they came running. They jumped in my lap (as much as they could and began kissing me all over my face. My husband drove the vehicle around and helped me load them in. They were so hot, their tongues hanging out and in distress. We turned the air conditioning on full blast. We knew in our short lunch break that we only had one option for these Babies- unless an owner immediately surfaced. We had to take them to Animal Control. I've rescued many dogs over the years (finding their owners or rehoming them in loving "forever homes.") My last choice is always to take an animal in to animal control (especially if it's a Pit Bull.) Sadly, I had no other choice. I watched the Animal Control website for the past few days, hoping to see their pic. disappear...hoping their owners would come and claim them. We originally found them and turned them in on Friday, Aug. 2nd and on Tues. evening (the 6th) we went in hoping we wouldn't see them there because their Family had come for them! We walked in to take a look. Sadly, they were still there. I began to weep. I couldn't imagine how these dogs could be so loving and friendly and their owners hadn't come to rescue them. I couldn't imagine the thought of them possibly being euthanized because of their breed. I couldn't contain the feelings of helplessness and guilt, wanting to rescue them so bad but knowing nothing else I could do. I was devastated. I talked to one of the workers. I asked him for ideas to get them rescued. I was informed by 2 workers that no Pit Bull Rescues Save out of this Shelter and they would love for a Pit Rescue to come in and Rescue from there. One of the Workers said it would be up to us to try to help them get rescued. Oh, this breaks my heart! I know there are so many wonderful dogs that are mistreated and discriminated against because of ignorance or abuse of their breed. My husband and I already have 3 dogs of our own (our City's limit) and are unable to adopt them out. Due to my rescue of so many pets over the years, I've pretty much run out of options for homes or foster homes. I put my hands through the kennel bars Tues. night and grabbed their faces and told them, "I'm sorry." I petted them as they licked my hands and their tales wagged excitedly back and forth. The male howled in sorrow wanting nothing more than to come out to me. Is there anyone you can think of or anything you can do to try to rescue these Sweet Dogs? Please put the word out to help save these precious ones.
They are located at: SEAACA 9777 Seaaca St. Downey CA 90241 Phone number: 562-803-3301 Their Impound #'s are: 14-03404/ Kennel 118 and # 14-03403/ Kennel 223. One is a Male and one is a Female. They are separated. They put the Female in a different section because she was acting a little timid. The Animal Control Worker saw her respond to me Tues. night and said he would try to have her moved up with the more adoptable dogs so she may be in a different kennel if you check on her. Their Available date is tom.: Fri., Aug. 9th. I really hope they can be rescued. They were a little "pack" staying with one another on the street. I know they would be wonderful pets to someone who will give them a chance. SEAACA services 14 Cities. I’m hoping one loving home would have a heart to take them in- even just to foster them.
Thank-you for what you do and for taking the time to read and consider my request and plea. Have a wonderful day! P.S. Please no Pit Bull “Hater” comments. Thanks.
