Radiation 36,000 times permissible level found in water at
Fukushima plant 03 Dec 2013 The operator of the disaster-hit
Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant said on Dec. 2 that it has detected
radioactive materials that topped 36,000 times the permissible level in
underground water extracted in the area. According to plant operator Tokyo
Electric Power Co. (TEPCO), strontium-90 and other radioactive substances that
emit beta rays were detected at a level of 1.1 million becquerels per liter in
underground water pumped up from an observatory well on Nov. 28. The well is
located at a sea bank east of the No. 2 reactor, about 40 meters from the
ocean.
Fukushima water tanks: leaky and built with illegal
labor 05 Dec 2013 Storage tanks at the Fukushima nuclear plant
like one that spilled almost 80,000 gallons of radioactive water this year were
built in part by workers illegally hired in one of the poorest corners of Japan, say labor regulators
and some of those involved in the work. The Okinawa crew was recruited by Token Kogyo, an
unregistered broker, and passed on to work at the Fukushima plant under the
direction of Tec, a larger contractor which reported to construction firm Taisei
Corp, records show. In September,
Okinawa labor regulators sanctioned Token Kogyo after investigating a complaint
by Uechi and concluding the broker improperly sent workers to Fukushima, said an
official with knowledge of the order, which was not made
public.
'Nothing is beyond our
reach': Evil octopus strangling the world becomes latest US intelligence
seal 06 Dec 2013 The US National Reconnaissance Office launched a
top-secret surveillance satellite into space Thursday evening. The Office of the
Director of National Intelligence live-tweeted Thursday's launch from Vandenberg
Air Force Base in California, and throughout the course of the ordeal made no
effort to ignore the logo for the NROL-39 mission. The latest spy satellite to
be sent into orbit by the NRO can be recognized by its seal: a malevolent
octopus with furrowed brows that also happens to be wrapping its tentacles
around all corners of the Earth.
US Navy launches drone from submerged
submarine 05 Dec 2013 Today, the US
Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) announced that it had successfully launched a
drone from a submerged submarine. The all-electric eXperimental Fuel Cell
Unmanned Aerial System (XFC) was launched in the Bahamas from the Los
Angeles-class nuclear-powered attack submarine USS Providence (SSN 719), using a
system that allowed the drone to be deployed without modifications to the boat
-- or requiring it to surface. For the submarine test, the XFC was placed inside
of a "Sea Robin" launch vehicle.
'Marine A' Alexander Blackman jailed for at least 10 years for
executing injured Afghan prisoner --Judge Advocate General Jeff Blackett says he 'treated
Afghan man with contempt and murdered him in cold blood' --'You were obliged to
care for him but instead you executed him' 06 Dec 2013 The Royal Marine
convicted of murdering a wounded Taliban prisoner will serve at least 10 years
in prison after he was given a life sentence by a court martial today. Sergeant
Alexander Blackman, 39, was sentenced at a hearing in Bulford, Wiltshire, one
day after a ban on identifying him was lifted by a High Court ruling. The
serviceman - known during the hearing as 'Marine A' - was filmed shooting the
injured man and telling him 'shuffle off this mortal coil, you c---' during a
tour of duty in Helmand province in September 2011. Blackman has been dismissed
with disgrace from the Royal Marines.

year.

House and Senate Near Deal to Fast-Track TPP, Drafted in
Secrecy By and For Corporations --U.S. media COMPLETELY SILENT (except for Ed
Schultz) on disastrous giveaway of US to multi-nationals 06 Dec 2013 A
sweeping trade agreement between the United States and a dozen Pacific nations
could be approved by Congress as early as next week, a move that would signal a
major victory for the special interests and corporations backing the deal. House
and Senate negotiators are closing in on a deal to "fast-track" the
Trans-Pacific Partnership, according to congressional aides who spoke to The New York Times. Opponents of
the TPP have urged Congress to reject the fast-track plan, noting that the TPP
has been negotiated almost entirely behind closed doors. [President Barack Obama is upping the quality of his 'income
inequality oratory' to provide cover and to serve as a distraction for the
government to SURRENDER U.S. sovereignty to transnational corporations. The TPP
-- drafted in
secrecy by and for corpora-terrorists -- must be
stopped. --LRP]
6 Hospitalized in Mexico With Signs of Radiation
Exposure 06 Dec 2013 Six people
showing signs of radiation exposure were hospitalized in central Mexico on
Friday, government officials said, two days after a stolen truck carrying
radioactive waste was found abandoned in the area, its potentially lethal
contents disturbed. The authorities said the six are suspects in the robbery and
are being detained. There was enough material in the waste shipment to deliver a
dose within minutes that would cause illness within a day or two, and with a
few hours of exposure, a dose that would be lethal.
Stolen Radioactive Material Found in
Field --The health of
a family in rural Mexico is being monitored after they pick up 60g of cobalt-60
- enough to make a dirty bomb. 06 Dec 2013 A stolen shipment of highly
radioactive cobalt-60 has been found abandoned in a field in Mexico. A family
took the opened medical device containing the radioactive material into their
home after finding it in central Mexico state...Federal police blocked access
Friday to a central Mexico hospital where six people were reported to have been
admitted with radiation exposure.
Hong Kong confirms
second human H7N9 bird flu case in a week 06 Dec 2013 Hong Kong health authorities on Friday confirmed a new
human case of the deadly H7N9 bird flu, the second case to come to light in less
than five days. An 80-year-old man has been infected and is hospitalised in the
southern Chinese city, Hong Kong Centre for Health Protection controller Leung

the patient's relatives both in Hong Kong and in Shenzhen, placing patients and
healthcare workers who were in contact with the man at the hospital under
"medical surveillance".
Ex-official: CIA Helped Jail Mandela 10 Jun 1990 For nearly 28 years the U.S. government has
harbored an increasingly embarrassing secret: A CIA tip to South African
intelligence agents led to the arrest that put black nationalist leader Nelson
Mandela in prison for most of his adult life. But now, with Mandela en route to
the U.S. to a hero's welcome, a former U.S. official has revealed that he has
known of the CIA role since Mandela was seized by agents of the South African
police special branch on Aug. 5, 1962. The former official, now retired, said
that within hours after Mandela's arrest Paul Eckel, then a senior CIA
operative, walked into his office and said approximately these words:
"We have turned Mandela over to the South African security branch. We
gave them every detail, what he would be wearing, the time of day, just where he
would be. They have picked him up. It is one of our greatest coups."
[Yeah, but then there
was the 9/11 inside job, Iraq-for-oil, the poppy fields in Afghanistan,
waterboarding, and rendition -- even 'greater' CIA coups.

Mandela's legacy: peace, but poverty for many
blacks 05 Dec 2013 In the 10 years
after he withdrew from public life, Nelson Mandela divided his time between a
mansion in one of Johannesburg's w-althiest suburbs and his ancestral home in
Qunu, a village in South Africa's impoverished eastern Cape. The contrast could
not have been starker. In one, his neighbors were cast in the image of the white
"Rand Lords", the mining magnates and bankers who built the sprawling city - and
Africa's biggest economy - from the vast gold reserves in the rock beneath their
feet.
South Carolina Sheriff Refuses to Lower Flag for
Mandela 06 Dec 2013 Rick Clark, the
sheriff of Pickens County, S.C., vowed on Friday to defy President Obama's order
that U.S. flags be lowered to half staff in honor of deceased South African
leader Nelson Mandela. Clark made his promise in a Facebook post to keep flying
the flag at the Pickens County Sheriff's Office at full height. Clark said the
flags at the Sheriff's Office were at half staff Friday to mourn a deceased
deputy.
