Koch, Murdoch, on 10 worst billionaires list

Walter Brooks' comments and links are worth reviewing.

It makes one wonder if this is what we're mindlessly supporting, endorsing and blindly following as our infrastructure and schools crumble, services are eliminated, research slashed so the US is no longer competitive, citizens are no longer protected because laws and regulatory agencies are gutted.

Corporate polluters are allowed to destroy the environment and jeopardize our future because, after all, Big Guvment has become the enemy and too many rally around like sheep because we've lost our ability to think.

Bill and Rupert rank first and second

Cape Cod has the top two worst billionaires

Osterville's Bill Koch makes top of "Worst Billionaires" list

Cape Cod Times owner Rupert Murdoch comes in second

Wow ! Cape Cod has two of the ten worst billionaires according to Alternet's Lynn Stuart list of oligarchs and monopolists and thugs.

Bill Koch is in first place. One of Koch's many mansions (he also bought a whole town in Colorado, but you can't even visit because the whole town is private), and his Osterville mansion has views of Nantucket Sounds, which he apparently thinks is private as well.

He is the number one funder and founder of the anti-wind farm organization the Alliance to Protect Nantucket Sound.

He considered building one there himself, but is so pissed off at Jim Gordon beating him do it he has spend millions to stop it.

Koch is also listed as the #3 largest contributor to Mitt Romney's failed campaign.

#2 Murdoch #2 vs. the Koch brothers #1

Number two on the list is Cape Cod Times owner Australian-born Rupert Murdoch, about whom Lyn Stuart says, "has dedicated himself to coarsening the public sphere through the misinformation, intolerance, and contempt of ordinary people promoted through his News Corp."

Least you think the news he controls is "fail and balanced", he spent last weekend hobnobbing behind closed doors at a swanky resort on the Georgia coast with some of the biggest names in Republican politics.

As one of the GOP's biggest contributors the private meeting included Dick Cheney, Paul Ryan and only right wing heavies.

The event was invitation-only and closed to the press.

Murdoch bought the Cape Cod Times when he acquired the Wall Street Journal a couple years ago.

Ironically Murdoch is today fighting the Koch brothers over the right to purchase the Tribune Newspaper Company which includes the L.A. Times and Chicago Tribune, two of America's largest regional dailies.
