1989 Toyota Camry LE V6: Will disconnecting the Speed Control Actuator prevent acceleration without pushing on the gas pedal?

Will disconnecting the Speed Control Actuator prevent
acceleration without pushing on the gas pedal?

Asked by coltonrl July 12, 2017 about the 1989 Toyota Camry LE V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1989 Toyota Camry LE V6.  Pulling into a parking space my car suddenly
accelerated to full speed, brakes would not hold it, ran into a tree,  still
running fast, put it in reverse, backed across parking lot and hit another car.
The car then stopped going fast and went back to idle speed..  I was going
very slow, did not hit accelerator just started going fast on it own.  If I
disconnect the Cruise Control (Speed Control Actuator) will that prevent this
from ever happening again.
