Kill List

If you're considering adding a furry member to your family, please check local shelters and rescues first. If you don't find a suitable animal locally, please check some of the great rescue groups that transport animals to save their lives.

Animals picked up as strays or turned in by owners are euthanized, frequently by gassing, unless they find a forever family.

Please support Spay/Neuter Programs.

Adoption/Transport information available on links.

ONE DAY ONLY ---
Tyson A0964407 came into MACC as a euth request, but instantly won the hearts of volunteers. He is such a loving and gentle guy, so he earned him ONE DAY, TODAY, to find a place to go! Please read his bio, and share Tyson for a foster or adopter, right NOW!

A volunteer writes:
Tyson was brought to us by his owners asking us to put him to sleep due to medical issues. We are told that he has stopped eating, urinates on himself and that his back legs give out after a short amount of time. What they didn't tell us, and what I discovered for myself, is what a sweet lover boy he is. I saw Tyson in his kennel, laying quietly watching me as I walked by him. His adorable little white face and shiny orange coat caught my eye and out we went. He stepped out of his kennel easily and out into the backyard. He walked up (and later back down) the steps easily, peed endlessly once we were out the door and enjoyed walking up and down the corridor with me. He loves treats which he takes so gently, and loves curling up in my lap for cuddles. His tail wags gently, his eyes are bright, alert, intelligent and focused. We met a couple of dogs in the back yard, all of whom he met with a wagging tail and nice manners. Tyson is a gem of a little guy who would thrive in a home ready to take on a senior who may require a bit of extra care. He is well socialized, his leash manners are perfect, his orange coat glows. We fed him some canned cat food which he devoured with relish; as a senior he may need some original thinking in order to keep him happy and as healthy as possible. For anyone willing to take that extra caring step, this little guy is a delight.

DO NOT call the shelter and say you are adopting unless you truly intend on physically going to the shelter to adopt the dog. It ties up phones lines and is a waste of the staff's time to explain the adoption procedure over the phone for someone who is purposely not going to show up. They need every free second of their time to answer calls, assist actual adopters, process intakes, and care for the animals. More importantly, they will note the dog’s file that an adopter is en route which will prevent an actual adopter from saving the dog. This is considered a "fake adoption" hold and that is how dogs fall through the cracks and end up being killed.

For more information on a particular dog, email adoption@nycacc.org but ONLY if serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go unnoticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions.
