One Of Donald Trump’s Most POPULAR Hotels In New York City To Lay Off Employees, Can You Take A Guess Why?

One Of Donald Trump’s Most POPULAR Hotels In New York City To Lay Off Employees, Can You Take A Guess Why?

The Trump SoHo hotel in lower Manhattan is readying a round of layoffs and has seen a drop-off in bookings for corporate events.
According to WNYC, managers are prepared to cut 12 room attendants out of a housekeeping staff of 80 and eliminate the hotel’s turn-down service.
The hotel’s conference and events business are also hurting. WNYC reported the hotel booked 29 large corporate events between January and mid-May last year, compared to 11 events during the same period this year.
From WNYC:
In its heyday, Trump SoHo was a destination. Celebrity-filled limos regularly pulled up, and delighted tourists snapped selfies in front of the glassy tower. Rooms at the five-star hotel cost over $700 a night, and the Koi restaurant on the ground floor rocked.
But five months into the Trump administration, it turns out that the Trump name may be undesirable in lower Manhattan. Bookings for corporate events are down sharply, and the hotel is planning layoffs.
A Trump Organization spokesperson declined to detail the Trump SoHo’s business in an email statement to WNYC.
“As is typical in the hospitality industry, hotel rates and occupancy fluctuate due to factors such as seasonality and macroeconomic forces,” the spokesperson said. “The hotel continues to receive top accolades.”
